I’ve been on a serious Hell’s Kitchen binge lately. And let me tell you, all that screaming, swearing, and intense cooking has weirdly got me craving some serious seafood. Who can resist those juicy scallops, perfectly grilled salmon, and fresh oysters, right?

So, I set out to explore the city’s best seafood spots and trust me, I discovered some hidden gems you wouldn’t want to miss! Join me as I share my favorites to satisfy your ocean cravings and elevate your dining experience.

1. Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar

Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar offers a fantastic selection of West Coast cuisine, including fresh seafood and premium steaks. The chefs, Alex Chen and Roger Ma know their stuff and use local ingredients to create an outstanding menu.

The restaurant has an elegant yet welcoming vibe, making it perfect for any occasion. I especially enjoyed the outdoor dining on the patio—it’s just lovely, especially in the warmer months.

When it comes to the food, I highly recommend trying their signature oysters with a craft cocktail from their extensive bar. They also have private dining options and a great wine list, which adds to the overall experience. 

2. Blue Water Cafe

Blue Water Cafe is all about fresh seafood and sustainability; let me tell you, they live up to their reputation. I love that they source their seafood responsibly, so you know you’re getting a delicious meal and supporting sustainable fishing practices.

The ambiance at Blue Water Cafe is so inviting—it’s elegant yet cozy, perfect for any occasion. I especially enjoyed sitting by the large windows, watching the lively street scene while enjoying my meal. 

Now, let’s talk about the food. I recommend the seared halibut. The presentation is beautiful, and the seasonal vegetables enhance the experience.

Oh, and here’s a tip – they often have special events like wine pairings and seasonal tastings, which are fantastic for trying new flavors. And keep an eye out for their promotions, too; they sometimes offer discounts on select wines during happy hour.

3. Mott 32

Mott 32 offers modern Chinese cuisine with influences from the Cantonese, Beijing, and Sichuan regions. It’s no wonder that it has gained recognition as one of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants.

The ambiance at Mott 32 is a beautiful blend of industrial chic and traditional Chinese aesthetics. The vintage birdcages repurposed as chandeliers and the luxurious private dining rooms create an opulent yet cozy atmosphere. 

Now, let’s talk about the food. The 42-day Apple Wood Roasted Peking Duck is an absolute must-try. It’s a signature dish that never disappoints. The dim sum selection is also exceptional; I loved the ibérico pork siu mai with soft-boiled quail egg.

Mott 32 also offers a variety of amenities, including private dining rooms and a lounge area, making it perfect for any kind of gathering. They often host special events and have seasonal promotions.

4. The Fish Man

The Fish Man is a seafood lover’s paradise. The restaurant specializes in Szechuan-style seafood and Chinese BBQ; the flavors are out of this world.

The ambiance at The Fish Man is so lively and bustling, and I loved the mix of communal tables and cozy seating arrangements. The outdoor patio seating is a great touch, especially during warmer months. 

Now, let’s talk about the food. I highly recommend trying the Sour Cabbage Fish Hot Pot and the Grilled Lingcod. The hot pot was flavorful, and the grilled fish was beautifully presented on a sizzling platter. 

Oh, and don’t miss out on their special events like Happy Hour, where you can enjoy discounts on select items. It’s a great way to explore their extensive menu without breaking the bank.

5. Bravo

Bravo is run by Executive Chef Jonah Joffe. The restaurant has a unique dry-aging fish program that enhances the dishes’ flavor and texture. Not long after opening, Vancouver Magazine named Bravo “Best New Restaurant.”

Bravo’s cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere makes it a great spot for a casual dinner or a special celebration. I loved the open kitchen design, which allows you to see the chefs at work, and the decor adds a touch of elegance to the whole experience. 

Now, let’s talk about the food. I highly recommend trying their fresh-shucked oysters—they come with amazing house-made sauces that change seasonally so that you can explore new flavors each time.

I love that they host special events like oyster shucking competitions, which excite and support local charities. They also have a full bar with craft cocktails and a great wine selection from coastal vineyards.

6. The Sandbar Seafood Restaurant

The Sandbar Seafood Restaurant has a sophisticated atmosphere. Every seat offers incredible views of False Creek and the bustling Granville Island market. The open kitchen allows you to see the chefs at work, adding to the place’s charm.

The second-floor patio has stunning views beneath the Granville Street Bridge, and the Teredo Lounge features live music seven nights a week. I also found the Crush Room a perfect setting for private dinners or special occasions. 

Now, let’s talk about the food. I highly recommend trying their Sandbar Tower; it’s a lavish seafood platter that’s perfect for sharing and includes a variety of fresh offerings.

The Sandbar also hosts special events like Thanksgiving dinners, featuring traditional turkey and seafood specialties. They offer great happy hour deals, making it an excellent time to enjoy their delicious offerings at a more affordable price.

7. Cardero’s Restaurant & Live Bait Marine Pub

Cardero’s Restaurant & Live Bait Marine Pub is a gem for seafood lovers. The restaurant has a fantastic waterfront location with stunning views of the marina and mountains. I loved the lively atmosphere and the live music they have every night.

The menu is diverse, but the fresh seafood steals the show. I highly recommend trying the Seaside Platter, which has a delightful assortment of fresh seafood, such as Dungeness crab and grilled prawns. 

The ambiance is perfect, especially the expansive outdoor patio where you can enjoy your meal while watching the boats go by. They also have special events like Thanksgiving dinners and offer discounts on certain days, like their Prime Rib Sundays.

8. Coast Restaurant

COAST Restaurant is a go-to for fresh West Coast seafood. The place has a modern and chic design. The O Lounge with the live-action sushi station is a cool feature, and the circular bar is perfect for enjoying oysters and champagne.

I loved their private dining rooms, which are great for intimate gatherings and larger celebrations. The place’s energy is perfect for any occasion.

They also have a great happy hour with fantastic deals, like $1.50 feature oysters, and their weekend brunch features a delightful $15 benny menu. I particularly enjoyed the fresh fish & chips combo during Friday lunches, paired with a refreshing draft beer.

9. Hydra Estiatorio

Hydra Estiatorio Mediterranean & Bar is inspired by Greek culinary traditions. The name comes from the Greek island of Hydra, and the menu is crafted by talented chefs. The focus is on fresh seafood and traditional Mediterranean dishes.

The ambiance is enchanting, with a stunning atrium and a lively cocktail bar. The interior design is unique, with custom chandeliers made of fine bone china fish and a dramatic spiral staircase. They also have an intimate wine bar and private dining spaces.

I particularly enjoyed their grilled octopus and the Santorini Sling cocktail. They frequently host special events and offer daily happy hour discounts, so it’s a great spot to enjoy exquisite cuisine without breaking the bank.

10. Fanny Bay Oyster Bar & Shellfish Market

Fanny Bay Oyster Bar & Shellfish Market brings the freshest shellfish from Fanny Bay on Vancouver Island to your table. They’ve recently expanded, so there’s even more space to enjoy their delicious seafood. 

The ambiance is lively and welcoming. I love the undersea mural and bubble-like lighting, which give the place a unique charm. One of my favorite things about Fanny Bay is their Happy Hour, which runs daily from 2 to 6 p.m. 

During Happy Hour, I highly recommend trying their Lobster Poutine – a decadent twist on a delicious Canadian classic. And don’t miss out on their daily feature oyster for just $2!

They also host special events like oyster shucking classes and wine tastings, perfect for anyone looking to deepen their appreciation of seafood. The restaurant even has a private dining room for up to 20 guests, which makes it great for celebrations.
