Vancouver Laser & Skin Care Centre started its journey with a floppy disk. In 1996, laser hair reduction was introduced in the city. The idea was revolutionary, but the machine was bulky, and appointments took a long time. Then came Dr. Martin Braun, a global presenter at top medical conferences like the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Braun’s machine back then ran on a laptop using a floppy disk. From his basement, a team of 4 women answered phones and spread the word about this new treatment. Soon, he quickly became a leader in cosmetic innovation in Canada.
After the success of his laser hair removal innovation, other services like neuromodulators, CoolSculpting, and Ultherapy soon followed. Project Skin MD was established in 2012 by Dr. William McGillivray and his wife, Bev McGillivray, because they dreamed about breaking traditional norms in aesthetic medicine clinics. They then partnered with L’Oréal skincare brand SkinCeuticals to create the first North American SkinCeuticals Advanced Clinical Spa on the ground floor of their 6,000-square-foot South Granville facility.
