Best Time to Go to Stearman Beach

The best time to go to Stearman Beach is from March and May, or from September to November. During these months, you’ll enjoy mild weather and more affordable hotel rates, ensuring a comfortable and budget-friendly trip.

Where is Stearman Beach?

Stearman Beach in Vancouver holds a special charm with its tranquil atmosphere, stunning waterfront views, and secluded location away from the bustling city. 

It offers locals and tourists alike a peaceful retreat to unwind, enjoy nature, and soak in the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Stearman Beach sits along the picturesque coastline of West Vancouver, approximately 5 to 6 kilometers away from Dundarave beach and village.

How to Get to Stearman Beach

By car: Stearman Beach is just 5 or 6 kilometers from Dundarave Beach and Village. Simply take Marine Drive, look for Stearman Avenue, and follow it down to reach the beach.

By public transit: hop on the 250 bus towards Horseshoe Bay and get off at WB Marine Drive at Morgan Cres. From there, the beach will be a 5-minute walk away.

To the east of the entrance lies a spacious tidal pool, its shallow waters and sandy bottom making it a favorite spot for children to play and discover marine life during low tide.

Swim at Stearman Beach

At Stearman Beach, swimming is an option, boasting a shoreline similar to Ambleside or Dundarave Beach. Despite its relatively small size, especially evident during low tide, the beach offers a spacious and inviting atmosphere for exploration. 

While it’s not entirely sandy, the water tends to be warmer compared to neighboring beaches, making it a peaceful spot for a dip.

Walk to Caulfeild Beach

As you move towards the water’s edge, especially during low tide, the beach surface becomes increasingly rocky. 

To the right, towards the west, Caulfeild Beach comes into view, and during exceptionally low tides, it’s possible to walk almost all the way there.

Isetta Cafe Bistro is a mid-century modern cafe located between the ocean and the north shore mountains of West Vancouver. It offers grab-and-go options along with coffee. 

The cafe/ bistro has an old diner feel but more modern and updated. We savored a delightful breakfast sandwich paired with a refreshing iced coffee. 

With an array of tempting baked goods to choose from, it was a tough decision—they all looked incredibly delicious!

The Shed Coffee Bar Pizza

The pizza coffee bar provides a lovely outdoor setting with ample seating. While the pizzas are freshly made, be prepared for a wait time of around 45 minutes. The innovative use of sea-cans adds to the charm of this outdoor pit stop. 

Our choice, the prosciutto and asparagus pizza, exceeded expectations and ranks among the best we’ve ever tasted.

Mucho Burrito offers a delightful selection of made-to-order Mexican dishes including burritos, bowls, tacos, and salads. A much-needed addition to the neighborhood’s fast food scene, their ingredients are exceptionally fresh. 

Tacos are particularly delicious, especially when paired with the fresh tomato salsa. The meats are flavorful and not overly processed, while the generously-sized burritos are equally satisfying.

The coffee here is absolutely fantastic, making it hard to resist coming back for more. They offer delicious sandwiches, including options for vegans, vegetarians, and even gluten-free cookies. 

We tried both the veggie and bacon breakfast sandwiches, and they were fresh and tasty. Plus, their cappuccino is simply fantastic.
