Back in the day, my cousin and I were scrambling for Christmas gifts at a last-minute mall sale. And I’ll have you know, chaos was once my middle name—despite all the madness, I’ve actually mastered the art of swift gift-grabbing!
I was proud before I got home and realized I had forgotten to buy something for myself. It’s always been a pattern of putting others first, and it felt exhausting. Why am I such a people pleaser? My cousin said maybe there’s some unresolved trauma behind it.
So we looked into Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, where you move your eyes while dealing with tough memories. We reviewed some of the best clinics below for future reference, but they might be able to help you too!
How much does an EMDR therapist charge in Vancouver? EMDR therapists in Vancouver charge between $80 and $165 per hour, depending on their experience and clinic location. Rates also vary based on session frequency and any extra services you choose. |
1. EMDR Therapy Group
Address: 736 Granville St Suite 810, Vancouver, BC V6Z 1G3, Canada
Contact Details: +1 778-819-2810, [email protected]
Operating Hours: Monday to Thursday – 8 AM to 8 PM; Friday – 8 AM to 6 PM; Saturday to Sunday – 9 AM to 6 PM
EMDR Therapy Group has a bunch of independent therapists in Vancouver who specialize in EMDR, trauma, and resilience therapy. We find it handy that all 8 of their counselors are skilled in EMDR, unlike other clinics where only a few are.
The team covers a lot of ground, helping with issues like processing trauma, breaking unhelpful patterns, and navigating tough relationships.
We also appreciate that one counselor specializes in the LGBTQ+ community, another in ADHD and autism, and another in supporting neurodiverse children, teens, and parents.
But what we love most are the online sessions. You can have therapy at home, in the office, or even while traveling! No need to worry if you’re in a remote area, immobile, taking care of kids, or just hesitant to go on-site.
If interested, we appreciate that the staff typically responds to calls, messages, and emails within 48 hours on weekdays.
Just a heads up, though. The pricing here is on the higher end for the city. Still, its counselors address a wide range of issues for adults and kids, which we think makes them worth considering.
Pros
- All therapists offer EMDR therapy
- Works with both adults and kids
- Experienced in servicing various minorities
- Quick response time
Cons
- Pricier than other clinics

Attentive and Committed
“This is a great team that truly cares about its clients. I have been very impressed by the owner’s attentiveness commitment to quality, and I would not hesitate to refer my friends and family here.”

Friendly and Insightful
“Jenny Watt exemplifies the very best of what a counselor and therapist should be. She is intelligent and insightful. She knows which questions to ask and observations to make. She is also very good at simply listening. Her presence is graceful, her demeanor is welcoming and friendly, while her manner is focused. Her approach is one of genuine care and compassion but not sympathy. Her goal is to encourage self-understanding and to foster the ability to overcome limitations. She does not push past your capacity, but she does help to increase that capacity to enable beneficial personal growth. I would enthusiastically recommend her.”

2. New Tides
Address: 1682 W 7th Ave Suite 300, Vancouver, BC V6J 4S6, Canada
Contact Details: +1 778-807-5803, [email protected]
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
New Tides offers a range of therapies, including EMDR, individual counseling, couples counseling, yoga, and breathwork. We think it’s convenient that this clinic has 14 counselors, with 9 of them being EMDR experts!
The team handles anxiety, depression, trauma, body image issues, and grief. But what caught our eye most was their experience in counseling seniors and front-line workers. We feel it’s great to see these often-overlooked groups getting the support they need.
One therapist also provides low-cost counseling for students and low-income clients. She’s a supervised student from Yorkville University and currently has a waitlist, so we feel it’s best to weigh this out.
If you’re looking for something different, the clinic’s unique art therapy services are a real highlight for us. We love that this offers a creative and relaxed approach to healing beyond traditional talk therapy.
We also find the free consultation calls super useful for finding the right therapist match before committing to multiple sessions.
However, keep in mind that the parking here isn’t covered. Moreover, it can be full during peak times, so it’s best to reserve a slot earlier in the day.
Pros
- Big team with EMDR therapists
- Offers rare art therapy services
- Experienced with the elderly and healthcare workers
- Complimentary consult calls
Cons
- Long waitlist for affordable therapy
- Parking can be inadequate

They remain committed to understanding the cutting edge of trauma-informed care, continually studying and training so as to remain relevant and to practice ethically in the sensitive art of healing human beings. She’s earned my trust from the very beginning and I’m infinitely grateful for her help working through issues surrounding stress, shame and trauma.”

Mindful You Therapy’s EMDR services are great for reducing symptoms and helping with long-term recovery from trauma, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.
We think Dr. Gordon’s experience with phobias and sleep disorders is refreshing since you don’t hear about them much at similar clinics in Vancouver.
The clinic only has 1 therapist, but we were in awe of his 20 years of experience in mental health and personal development. We heard about previous clients raving about his compassionate and sophisticated approach.
He does talk therapy and is a pro at EMDR, which helps clients overcome the weight of their issues. The fact that many patients have remained loyal to his practice for years speaks volumes about his reliability and efficacy, in our opinion.
Should you want to give this clinic a try, note that you need to book an appointment in advance—no walk-ins here!
Pros
- Over 2 decades of expertise
- Also specializes in phobias and sleep disorders
- Long-term client retention
Cons
- Occasional long waitlist

I feel much more confident
“I would like say that after seeing Michael for several visits recently I feel much more confident and capable in my abilities to control myself and to keep an even keel as far as my personal and professional life is concerned. Michael was very empathetic as well as non judgmental in our sessions. He was able to help me open up and get to the root of some of issues that had been bothering me most of my life. I feel very fortunate to have seen him when I did as I feel I am in a good position to tackle the challenges that befall us at this critical moment in time.”
-Mr. Fred Wilson, Google Review
I found lasting happiness
“There aren’t enough words to describe how Dr. Gordon and EMDR therapy have helped me so profoundly. I have seen a few therapists over the years, recounting and talking about the events in my life, but never really reaching the essence of my mental anguish. The universe blessed me the day I came across the Mindful You Therapy website. Immediately, Michael began creating what would become the safest place I have ever known to unburden myself. He helped me see that the lifetime of trauma I experienced created a cancer of self-loathing, destroying my true self. Michael’s skill as a therapist and EMDR practitioner and hard work on my part, have resulted in permanent, positive change. No longer am I controlled by food or shopping addictions, nor will I ever be a victim of someone who preys upon people in pain. I am not afraid of my feelings or of saying ‘no’. Instead, I have found lasting happiness in learning to love myself.”

4. Well Beings Counselling
Address: Well Beings Counselling, 838 W Hastings St Suite #721, Vancouver, BC V6C 0A6, Canada
Contact Details: +1 604-305-3870, [email protected]
Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday – 8 AM to 8 PM; Sunday – 9 AM to 5 PM
Well Beings Counselling offers virtual support or face-to-face chats in Downtown Vancouver. With a whopping 16 therapists on board, including 5 EMDR specialists, we reckon snagging an appointment here is like a walk in the park!
Its registered counselors specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, and the like. We love that they cater to all ages too—adolescents, teens, adults, seniors, and couples.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. The sessions run a tad shorter than the standard 60 minutes you’d find elsewhere, clocking in at 50 minutes. We feel some might see this as a plus for efficiency, while others might prefer the extra time.
For the nine-to-fivers out there, we think you might appreciate their evening, as the therapists work long hours from 8 am to 8 pm on Mondays through Saturdays. But fair warning, the rates here are on the higher end of the spectrum.
Another small drawback is that Sunday appointments come with a catch—they’re on the shorter side. So if that’s your only free day, it’s wise to plan well and secure your slot.
Parking-wise, we like that you’ve got options aplenty! Street parking is up for grabs on W. Hastings, W. Cordova, Hornby, and Howe St. And if you’re out of luck there, there are a few parking lots nearby to save the day.
Pros
- Lots of available therapists
- Serves almost all age groups
- Accepts evening appointments
- Ample parking options
Cons
- Rates can be expensive
- Shorter Sunday hours

What really stands out for us is its focus on helping men navigate therapy. Dr. Ball’s track record with men speaks volumes—95% of her clientele! For us, it’s refreshing to see a clinic that’s tuned into the struggles men face when seeking support.
You know how guys are “supposed to be” all tough and not show any emotions? Yeah, well, that old-school idea can really mess with their heads. That’s why we think it’s cool to see places like this clinic get it and offer support tailored for dudes.
But here’s the catch: the clinic is open only 4 days a week, from 12 pm to 8:30 pm. If you’re an early bird, you might have to wait for a convenient slot.
Plus, you can score a free 15-minute therapy taster with a phone call—a risk-free way to see if it clicks. And if you sign up on their blog, you’ll snag a sweet bonus: a free e-book and a handy self-assessment tool. Total win for therapy newbies!
Some clients can even book 2 days in a row! In our book, this makes the therapist show how flexible and accommodating she can be.
