Le Crocodile is like a little treasure tucked away in the city. It is known for its classic French cuisine. I can’t believe it’s been around for over 30 years! Chef Michel Jacob opened this gem, turning it into something special.

When you walk in, you’ll first notice the ambiance. It’s a beautiful mix of elegance and warmth. Crisp white linen tablecloths, comfy red leather banquettes, and soft classical music play in the background.

They also have amazing steak tartare and this rich, creamy lobster bisque that just hits the spot. Fun fact: the restaurant’s name pays homage to Au Crocodile in Strasbourg, where Chef Jacob was inspired during his culinary journey.

They turn West Coast ingredients into incredible, seafood-focused, French-inspired dishes. The executive chef and team’s passion and skill are evident. It’s no wonder they’ve racked up many awards over the years.

Five Sails also keeps things fresh with special events and seasonal menus throughout the year. You’ve got to try the Atlantic Lobster Bisque—it’s decadent! And you can’t miss the Slow-cooked Halibut, which is cooked to perfection.

Elisa isn’t just your average steakhouse; it’s an experience that captures the whole vibe of fine dining in Yaletown, Vancouver. It’s snagged awards like the Best Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator and even made it into the Michelin Guide.

Walking into Elisa, you can’t help but be wowed by the decor—it’s chic and contemporary, with a huge 6,800-square-foot space with beautiful woodwork and an open kitchen that draws you in.

The centerpiece? A Grillworks Infierno wood-fired grill that promises some serious flavor. The menu is a steak lover’s dream, featuring everything from Canadian and US Prime beef to Japanese Wagyu, but the Black Angus bone-in ribeye is a must-try.

The moment you walk into Blue Water Cafe, you’re hit with this gorgeous design that captures the area’s maritime vibe. I love that the place has been around since 1996 and has earned a special spot in the hearts of locals and visitors alike.

Their menu is extensive, but it’s also all about sustainability and using fresh, local ingredients. You feel good about what you’re eating—like you’re connecting to the ocean and the health of our planet while enjoying an incredible meal.

They have a heated patio, so you can dine outside all year round, which is pretty cool. And if you’re celebrating something special—like a birthday or an anniversary—they have private dining rooms that really add a nice touch.

The Botanist has stunning botanical-themed decor—think lush greenery and soft pastel tones that remind you of a cozy conservatory. It’s like walking into a serene garden oasis. Executive Chef Hector Laguna knows how to make a menu sing!

He focuses on showcasing the incredible bounty of the Pacific Northwest. It’s no wonder they’ve caught the eye of the MICHELIN Guide—this place is all about commitment to quality and creativity.

And let’s talk about the different areas in the restaurant—there’s something for every vibe you might be in the mood for. Want to sip on some crafty cocktails? Head to the Cocktail Lab. Looking for a peaceful dinner? The Garden is perfect.

The main Dining Room offers an elegant setting, while the TASCHEN Library is just a delightful bonus. I’d recommend making a reservation, especially if you’re planning something special, like a birthday or a romantic date night.

Lupo Restaurant & Vinoteca is a charming spot nestled in a lovely renovated heritage home, and I swear, the atmosphere feels just like stepping into a cozy Italian villa. From the moment you walk in, this intimate vibe makes you feel right at home.

The menu is a delightful mix of traditional and modern Italian dishes that had me drooling. I mean, ricotta gnocchi, BC sablefish, and that rich, tender ossobuco? It’s hard to pick a favorite, but the flavors were spot on.

I learned that wine director Michael Mameli and executive chef Julio Gonzalez Perini have been in charge since it transformed from Villa del Lupo.

What also stood out to me was their private dining room, perfect for intimate celebrations. It can host up to 30 guests, so keep this in mind if you’re planning a special occasion.

7. AnnaLena

It’s so cool how AnnaLena blends contemporary design with a playful culinary twist. Chef Michael Robbins, who’s been there since 2015, creates amazing small plates with local ingredients and seasonal flavors.

The menu changes frequently, so every time you visit, there’s something new to discover, keeping it fresh and exciting. It’s been recognized among the top dining spots in Canada, and it even snagged a Michelin star in 2023! That’s pretty impressive, right?

And the ambiance? It’s the perfect mix of stylish and cozy. Modern decor is sprinkled with quirky touches, like pop culture figurines and art books. It sets a lively mood, making it great for everything from a cozy date to a fun celebration.

You’ve got to try the fruits de mer with dill vin blanc sauce and the wagyu striploin. And if you happen to be there during a special event, keep an eye out for themed menus or seasonal ingredients.

L’Abattoir beautifully blends French-inspired cuisine with the amazing fresh ingredients from the Pacific Northwest. The name “L’Abattoir” might sound edgy, translating to “slaughterhouse” in French.

Since opening in 2010, L’Abattoir has become quite the sensation, even snagging a spot in the Michelin Guide! That’s thanks to Chef Lee Cooper, who has an incredible knack for mixing bold flavors with seasonal ingredients.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It beautifully combines classic French tile work with some industrial vibes, creating the perfect backdrop for celebrating something special or just enjoying a casual meal.

One of the things I love about their Gaoler’s Menu is that it’s a prix-fixe multi-course meal pairing with some exquisite wines. A chunk of the proceeds even goes to the BC Hospitality Foundation, which is a nice touch.

9. Hawksworth Restaurant

Since its opening in 2011, Hawksworth Restaurant has established itself. Forbes has recognized it as one of the “World’s Best Restaurants.”

What stands out to me is their contemporary Canadian cuisine—it’s like they’ve taken classic cooking techniques and given them this modern twist that’s just fantastic.

Have you tried the Black and White Truffle Risotto or the Beef Tenderloin? They focus on using high-quality, local ingredients, making all the difference.

It’s upscale but still feels warm and inviting. The interior has this thoughtfully designed vibe, with all these unique dining spaces. There’s a lovely pearl room that feels almost magical, and then there’s this vibrant cocktail lounge that just buzzes with energy.

Ancora Waterfront Dining and Patio has been a favorite spot for locals and visitors. What I love most is this amazing fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine. Seriously, it’s like a culinary love affair on a plate!

They source fresh, local ingredients right from the West Coast. You’re instantly welcomed by a cozy yet elegant atmosphere when you walk in. Imagine big windows that let in tons of natural light while giving you jaw-dropping views of the water.

You’ve got to try their signature dishes, like the Dungeness Crab Benny or their Peruvian-style paella. And if you can, don’t miss their Butter Croissant Shrimp Melt; it’s been getting rave reviews for its rich flavors and perfect texture.
