During my childhood to early teenage years, I would associate our Saturday afternoons with pies baking in the oven. And that inviting and sweet smell of freshly baked pie would make us stop whatever we were doing.
Luckily, we can relive that memory just by visiting the best pie spots we discovered here in the heart of Vancouver. Bonus part is: we get to taste seasonal offerings that leave us craving every season.
So if you’re going for a pie hunt soon, make sure to read our blog, and use it as a guide as we give you the best ones we’ve tried and tasted around the city!

The pies that we ordered here at Tartine Bread and Pies always have that buttery crust, and they’ve been consistently good with it. Aside from homemade pies, we also go to this place to grab pastries and sandwiches whenever we’re on the go.
As soon as I stepped in the store, it immediately brought back memories from my childhood when my mom used to make pies for us every Saturday.
If you love the classics, you should consider getting a slice of their apple pie. One bite will give you a happy holiday memory, as their version really tastes like the ones you have during Christmas.
If you want a pie with whipped cream on top, we can recommend their banana cream pie. Just pair it with a black coffee to balance the sweetness.
Pro tip:
Consider going on a Friday and buy a slice of pie and get a cup of coffee for free!

For over 30 years, Savary Island Pie Company has been whipping up homemade pies, breads, and pastries around Vancouver. We love going to this place as we don’t just get to grab pies and other baked goods, we can catch them baking onsite too!
Aside from the pies, some of our favorites here are their chive and cheese scones, and cranberry and pecan muffin. Just don’t forget to ask for butter as it would pair well with your muffin!
Some of the classic flavors that you can get here are the raspberry, blueberry, and strawberry. They also offer seasonal flavors such as the pumpkin spice pie, which is only available during Thanksgiving.
We also love getting sourdough and rye here. Even better, you have an option to buy half a loaf if you can’t finish the entire thing within the consumption period.
Pro tip:
If you’re bringing a car along, note that parking along Marine Drive is free for two hours.
3. Peaked Pies

The moment we stepped in Peaked Pies’ store, we felt like we were transported to Australia. And yes, it’s not just the vibe but this shop also offers handmade Australian savory pies which are all baked fresh onsite.
Of course, we had to try the classic Australian beef pie. And here’s our tip: just mention the word ‘peaked’ and they will top your pie with mashed potatoes and peas, with a generous serving of homemade gravy.
If you prefer sweet pies, you can get some cinnamon pies and even caramel tarts, which are both flaky and flavorful.
Pro tip:
You can order Peaked Pies’ mental lentil if you’re looking for a vegetarian option.

Well, we all have our bad days, and maybe I was given a pinch of luck when I stumbled upon The Pie Hole during my not-so-fine day. Spoiler alert: the pie was able to lift up my mood, indeed!
Our most favorite flavor was their banana cream pie. We love how the crust remains flaky and crusty hours after they’ve been baked.
You can also grab their raspberry cream crumble and their famous fat Elvis pie, one that is made with chocolate, banana, and peanut butter. We recommend the latter if you want your kids to enjoy eating their pie.
They also have savory pies here such as the chicken pot pie and spinach feta.
Well, I guess the next time my day feels gloomy, a trip to this place is definitely in order!
Pro tip:
Consider buying their assorted mini pies so you can sample several pie flavors without buying the bigger versions.

If you’re in the Port Moody area, make sure to head to Gabi & Jules for its handmade pies. If you love the color pink, you’ll love that their store is filled with pink accents, making them more attractive to young girls.
They also have a cute patio, which is a perfect spot if you want to catch the sunset during your visit.
We ordered the strawberry peach coconut pie, since it seemed like the perfect flavor on a sunny afternoon. Just remember to ask the staff to warm it up for you so you can appreciate its crust better.
We’ve also heard that their blueberry earl grey pie’s a hit, so the next time we’re in Port Moody, we’ll definitely get this one too.
Pro tip:
Consider calling the store ahead to reserve your favorite pie flavor. They sell out pretty fast, especially during weekends.

Contact Details: +1 604-685-8335
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
When our friend told us about A La Mode Pie’s clam chowder pot pie, we immediately planned a trip to Johnston Street. We were too curious to wait for weeks, and it was so good that we’re glad we didn’t wait for too long!
The pie has a generous New England-style chowder filling, topped with sweet and salty Manila clams.
It’s also a great spot to grab whole pies for your next event. They never run out of stock so can definitely grab something here on the go.
However, there are limited seats here as the pie shop is located in a food court. We highly suggest going on a weekday instead.
Pro tip:
Since A La Mode Pie has limited seats, consider ordering your pie to-go and just find a nice spot by the water.

What’s great about Florist Bakery, Mill & Cafe is that they don’t have much on their menu, which is perfect for those who get easily overwhelmed by seeing a lot of food choices.
We recommend getting the chocolate cream pie, lemon meringue pie, lime cream pie, and their coconut cream pie.
Aside from their pies, you can also order their soup of the day, with toast and salad on the side if you happen to pass by during lunch. We also love sourdough, that’s why we didn’t miss out on their broiled cheese toast.
Our most favorite part about staying at Florist Bakery is that you get to watch the stone mill through a window while sipping on your coffee. And if you love to read, there are several cookbooks around the place, perfect if you want to stay for a while.
Pro tip:
For pizza lovers out there, consider visiting Florist Bakery, Mill & Cafe on Thursdays or Fridays as they host pizza nights during those days.
8. Purebread

Address: 159 W Hastings St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1H5
Contact Details: +1 604-563-8060
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
We loved how the display case here at Purebread is always filled with pies and other baked goodies. And that doesn’t mean they don’t sell anything at all—they just continuously replenish their stock throughout the day due to high demand.
There are plenty of tables here in this pie shop, so you don’t need to worry about getting a good seat even during peak hours.
Now that we’ve tried their pies, we can definitely say that we get the hype!
We tried their classic apple crumble pie, and we love that it wasn’t too sweet—we even had two slices each since the taste wasn’t overwhelming.
You can also pair your pie with a cup of coffee. Even better, they have decaffeinated options, perfect if you’re a little acidic.
They also got seasonal pies on rotation that’s why we’ve decided to make it a habit to pop in every few weeks just to check if they have a new flavor to offer.
We were lucky enough to score a peach raspberry pie last summer. We actually tried to recreate it at home, but nothing beats the one we got from Purebread—I guess we just have to wait for next summer!
And yes, savory pies are available here too. Try asking for their mushroom and leek pie if you want something light.
Pro tip:
Purebread serves relatively strong coffee, which may be too overwhelming if you prefer light to medium roast.
9. Temper Chocolate and Pastry

Website: http://www.temperpastry.com/
Address: 2409 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7V 1L3
Contact Details: +1 604-281-1152
Operating Hours: Tuesday – Sunday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
We weren’t actually hungry when we walked in at Temper Chocolate and Pastry, but seeing their shelves filled with pastries, pies, and tarts left us buying more than what we could consume during that day.
Well, to be honest, it was really their croissants (specifically the almond one) that caught our attention first, but of course we knew we had to try their pies too.
We pre-ordered their pumpkin pies and their special pumpkin cheesecake before Thanksgiving. So if you want to do the same on the next holiday season, just follow their social media pages and wait for their announcement.
We also recommend their mini cakes, perfect if you’re celebrating little milestones during your visit.
The place is relatively small so it isn’t a good spot to get some work done. Nonetheless, it would be a great idea to grab a cup of coffee here at Temper Chocolate and Pastry while walking on the beach.
Pro tip:
Parking along Marine Drive is quite challenging so be prepared to park a few blocks away from Temper Chocolate and Pastry.
