Oceana Massage provides therapeutic bodywork for stress relief, detox, and prenatal care. Susan Polano, founder of Oceana Massage, brings a wealth of expertise with her, having worked in the field for over 15 years.
Susan heads a crew of nine registered massage therapists (RMT), and each one brings their own skills to the mix. It’s also reassuring to know that their therapists have more than 15 years of experience working with expectant mothers.
We also liked that they customized your massage to suit your specific needs and comfort, ensuring safety and relaxation for both you and your baby throughout the session.
Speaking of relaxation, we’re also delighted with the homey vibe their facilities have, thanks to the minimalist decor and natural light streaming in through the windows.
It’s just a bummer that they don’t have some sort of loyalty program for regulars, but we appreciate that their rates are competitive. It’s also convenient that they have an online booking system wherein you can pick which RMT you’d like to work with.
Overall, we’re rather happy with what we’ve seen here at Oceana Massage, and we happily recommend them for prenatal massages.
Pros
- 15 years of experience
- Tailored prenatal massages
Cons
- No loyalty programs

Established in 2001, RMTs Mark Bents and Brad Dow opened Everest Therapeutics Massage Therapy to provide massage services ranging from Swedish massages and trigger-point therapy to more complex ones like craniosacral therapy.
It’s hard to miss the size of their team, with more than 39 RMTs on call to offer a variety of massage services. In fact, we’d go so far as to say that this is their greatest asset as a business, allowing them to cater to multiple clients simultaneously.
They have four RMTs who are specifically trained in prenatal massage, all of whom are women, which we liked. These RMTs will first conduct an extensive consultation to discuss pain areas, which we thought was very thorough of them.
It’s also nice that they’re equipped with the correct support cushions and pillows to make sure that pregnant clients are comfortable during their massage.
We’re just a bit iffy that they’re frequently booked, with appointments often filling up quickly. However, their online booking system makes it convenient to schedule appointments in advance.
Oh, and they’re also open seven days a week, so you’re bound to find a time that works for you. All in all, they’re a solid choice.
Pros
- Large team of RMTs
- Equipped with comfortable support cushions and pillows
Cons
- Frequently booked
Client Reviews

Sunrise Health has come a long way since its opening in 2019 at Hastings Sunrise. Stephanie and Annie, the founders of Sunrise Health, have consistently grown the business, and in 2023, they moved to a larger space to treat more clients.
The clinic provides various health services, such as massage therapy for various needs as well as acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (TCM). However, their primary focus has always been prenatal and postnatal care.
We’re more than impressed to see that their clinic has specially designed pregnancy cushion systems that make it safe for pregnant women to safely lie on their stomachs. But if you’re not comfortable with that, you have other options too.
They also have various bolsters and pillows for clients who prefer to be treated in a side-lying or semi-upright position, which only strengthened the positive impression they left on us.
We’re just a bit disappointed that they have limited direct billing coverage, so your insurance company may or may not be included in their list of accepted providers. On the positive side, we appreciated their transparency when it came to their rates.
With all that in mind, we’re pretty confident in recommending Sunrise Health for prenatal massages. Their focus on providing a comfortable and personalized experience for expecting mothers makes them one of the best in the city.
Pros
- Primary focus on prenatal and postnatal care
- Can treat patients in various positions
Cons
- Limited direct billing coverage

Another option worth considering is Mountainview Movement Massage and Wellness. These guys have RMTs who specialize in injury and kinesthetic therapy, deep tissue work, muscle energy techniques, as well as relaxation massages.
All their RMTs are qualified professionals under the BC College of Massage Therapy, so that’s a plus. And they have a big team as well, so you know you won’t have trouble with availability.
The biggest convenience that this clinic offers is that they have five locations, including all the major areas in the city—Gastown, Granville, Main Street, Burrard, and Cordova Street.
We dropped by their clinic in Gastown, and we very much appreciated the calming ambiance accentuated by white and neutral-colored decor, house plants, and soft lighting.
Additionally, they’re knowledgeable about the needs of each trimester of pregnancy and provide specialized care accordingly, which we loved. We also liked that they do direct billing, so you don’t have to worry about submitting claims yourself.
If you’re looking for a clinic that provides exceptional prenatal care, we highly recommend Mountainview Movement Massage and Wellness. They’ve got a big team of RMTs that can treat you in a relaxing environment.

Massage therapy, acupuncture, and wellness classes is what Healing Tree Massage + Wellness Studio is all about. They’re located in the trendy neighborhood of Mount Pleasant, and they’ve got ten RMTs on board.
What we liked most about them is that they provide personalized treatment plans, which will be discussed during your initial consultation with one of their RMTs. We believe this makes their services more effective in targeting specific areas.
Take prenatal aches and pains, for example. The Healing Tree Massage + Wellness Studio tailors things such as pressure, temperature, and positioning to accommodate the needs of expectant mothers, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience.
We’re also happy to see that they stayed true to their name, as their studio is designed purposefully with a calming and natural ambiance. Inside, you’ll see plants, wooden furniture, and subtle lighting that highlights the serene atmosphere.
They also do direct billing with Pacific Blue Cross, available with all of their RMTs, and it’s nice to see that they’ve got a great appointment system in place since they don’t accept walk-ins.
