Coaching technique: We considered badminton coaches who can teach complicated techniques using more clear and simple strategies. We also assessed if they provide exercises that the students can follow at home.
Class size: We checked if the badminton coaches can provide equal attention to his or her students, especially during group sessions. Plus points for those who offer one-on-one coaching.
Facilities: We included those with good badminton facilities such as great lighting and flooring. We also checked if they have convenient and clean bathrooms.
Patience: It’s important the coaches have enough patience, especially for kids or beginners in the game, allowing them to stay motivated to keep going.
Every time we played badminton, we would always blame the court’s blinding lights (including the uneven or slippery flooring) whenever we missed that smash. Turns out, our skills were really the problem here—they’re completely non-existent!
Since we wanted to improve our game nights, we decided to tap the best badminton coaches here in Vancouver, good thing there’s no shortage of these pros here!
So if you also want to be more confident in court, or you’re looking for trainers who can teach your kids at a young age, then here’s a list you can refer to. Continue reading or even hit the bookmark so you can go back to our list anytime you want!

If you’re looking for a badminton coach that’s great around kids then we highly recommend tapping Coach Dara of Shuttlesport Badminton Academy.
She’s pretty great with focusing on every kid’s skill development. She also understands that every kid has to learn at his or her own pace, so they won’t force them to move up if they aren’t ready yet.
We love that Coach Dara also provides exercises your kids can do at home. And while she provides technical training to supplement your kids’ skills, you’ll love how much commitment she puts on every student just to ensure they’re always improving.
You can also expect Coach Dara and the other coaches here in this badminton facility to provide you with constructive criticisms, but still keep the fun vibe going during training.
But hey, adults can still tap Coach Dara too, and that’s what we love most about her. Learning badminton skills as an adult could be more challenging compared to the young ones, but we appreciate her personalized training for her adult clients!
They also offer one-on-one coaching here if you really want to speed up your learning. Just be ready to pay them upfront as they don’t allow booking during the day of your lessons.
Pros
Great foundation and skills training for both kids and adults
Allows students to learn at their own pace
Cons
Upfront payment for one-on-one coaching
One-on-one coaching session could be longer
Great in coaching the kids
“We’ve been going to the facility for our daughter’s training for the past 2+ years and are very happy with the improvements in her work ethic and game thus far. We can’t thank enough all the coaches who work tirelessly to motivate and bring out the best from the kids. Coaching young minds is no easy task. Special props go out especially to coach Dara, who took an interest in her early on and with great patience and understanding has coached her to where she is right now. We would be happy to recommend the academy to anyone who is interested in improving their game.”
“This 5 star review is for the coaching specifically — our son has been attending the beginner competitive program for a few terms now and we’ve seen amazing progress thanks to Coach Dara. She is a kind and caring coach who has excellent foresight on the kids’ development. She is patient and consistent in her training, allowing kids to progress at their own pace. We notice that she only moves them up when they’re truly ready, which we really appreciate. She also suggests helpful home exercises that have made a big difference in our son’s game. Dara is an encouraging coach and a great mentor to her junior peers at the club. We are very grateful for the ways she has nurtured our son’s love for badminton and ignite his competitive spirit.”
If you’re looking for badminton coaches who have been trained by two-time Olympian Anna Rice, then make sure to head to Badminton Vancouver. Here, we got a chance to meet Coach Matt, one who can teach beginners to advanced players.
It’s worth noting though, that they focus on teaching kids from 8 to 12 years of age, and teens from 12 to 16 years. While they don’t turn down adult players, we saw that most of their students are within that age range.
One great thing that we learned about this badminton center is that it cooks daily meals for the kids too, so you don’t have to stress about it in the morning!
We also appreciate that the staff takes good care of their badminton courts. In fact, we saw them wipe off the courts after every turn, ensuring dirt and sweat were wiped off first before you use them.
Not to mention, this badminton center also converts some of their courts for pickleball use. So if you want to try two sports under one roof, then you just found the right one.
We also love that the booking process here is hassle-free, so if you’re down for a casual game, just call their hotline to reserve a court. They’re also transparent with their rates, which you can easily check through their website.
However, it could be a little challenging to book one after 5 in the afternoon. We heard that some people join badminton groups to get a spot during this time, so you may consider exploring that option too!
And while Badminton Vancouver is well-ventilated, this facility isn’t air conditioned. So watch out if you’re playing here during summer, especially during the day, as it can really get too hot inside.
Pros
Maintains badminton courts after every use
Easy booking process
Transparent rates online
Cons
Could be a little hot and humid during summer
Focused on training kids and teens
Prepares healthy meals for the kids during training
“My son is doing the kids camp with Badminton Vancouver and he’s absolutely loving it. Coach Matt and coach Connor are both amazing coaches and really know how to blend fun and learning together perfectly. Also, the lunch option is a must, as they cook kids their meal daily. Highly recommended for any parents who want their kid to learn badminton while getting great exercise and enjoying it too. Thank you Badminton Vancouver for such a memorable week! The cherry on top is that we also met Olympian Anna Rice!!!”
“Offers well-maintained courts, excellent lighting, and great flooring for a smooth game. The staff is friendly, and the booking process is hassle-free. Perfect for both casual and competitive players. Highly recommend!”

Coach Kane of West Coast Badminton Academy is known for his personalized badminton classes, so if you’re really serious about your game then he’s your best bet. Yes, we recommend him if you’re planning to join a tournament too!
Even if you’re planning to join a group, you can expect Coach Kane to keep his class under six students. This will allow him to still give you undivided attention, while ensuring you’re learning at your own pace.
You can also expect him to not play favorites, allowing you to maximize your time on the court.
The staff here at West Coast Badminton Academy is friendly as well. Some would even cheer on us as we spend our time on the court.
Another thing that we like about this badminton facility is that it has bright lights. It isn’t gloomy compared to the old badminton courts we’ve recently visited—but don’t worry, they won’t blind you while you try to hit the shuttlecock.
This place also has a high ceiling which we think contributes to a very good circulation in the court.
You won’t also have a hard time freshening up after playing as their washrooms are always kept clean no matter what time of the day it is. The shower isn’t too friendly for tall players though!
Pros
Ideal for serious badminton players
Keeps class under six members
Great air circulation
Cons
Tall players may have a hard time using the shower
Strict about using light-colored sports shoes
Lights are not blinding
“One of the best badminton courts in Richmond. Ceiling is very high, court mats/net quality is pristine, lighting is not as blinding as some other places. Booking rates are good and easy to book if you just talk to the owners. Owners are very friendly as well. Recommended.”
“The coach, Kane, is very professional and kind; the courts are all in perfect spacing with each other, especially the one we booked, which is a private yet open opening. It’s too small to have a shower for athletes; otherwise, it would be a five-star!”

For the Chinese community in Vancouver, we’re quite sure you’ve heard about the Master Badminton Club. In fact, this badminton center is famous among Chinese kids who are eager to practice their skills in playing the sport.
This badminton facility actually originated from China before opening its doors here in Vancouver. Additionally, they’re also known for their affordable coaching rates, which makes them an ideal choice for those who are on a budget.
Here, we met Coach Jack of Master Badminton Club, and we love that he has that balance of being approachable while pushing you to be your better version after every lesson.
Group lessons and private lessons are available here. And we appreciate that they only have five students in one group class, giving each student the attention that they need during training.
And that’s exactly what we noticed when we enrolled our son in a group badminton class. Each time our son leaves the court, he’s always tired, but very much fulfilled, that’s why we love this coach!
Our son didn’t have the best footwork either, but we appreciated how patient Coach Jack was in helping our son correct it.
Additionally, we noticed that his drills weren’t too daunting. Coach Jack would even try to incorporate the drills with mini games, which allows students (especially the younger ones) to have fun during training.
However, his schedule could fill up fast so make sure to secure a slot months ahead!
Pros
Budget-friendly coaching rates
Limited students during group classes
Incorporates mini games during drills
Cons
High client demand
Late notification or announcement during class suspensions
Focuses on correcting your form
“Small gym, but coaching is good. I’ve learned some crucial mistakes that affect my game play. Coaches are persistent on helping you fix your form. Great experience overall”
“Master Badminton is a good training/drop-in place for locals in Vancouver. The coaches are nice, the training is diverse and fun while still addressing the many aspects of Badminton, and you can improve drastically with others in the many as selective levels. Would highly recommend if you’re looking to improving!”

Another badminton coach that can teach kids and adults is Coach Eric, co-founder of Epic Request Sports Club or ERSC.
He’s a great match if you’re looking for a coach that focuses on minimizing injuries, which is a serious matter if you don’t want to derail your training.
The thing we love the most here in this badminton center is their cushioned and non-slippery badminton mats. They’re also approved by the Badminton World Federation, which makes it a great training facility for professional athletes.
They’re pretty strict about wearing proper footwear on the badminton court—yes, you won’t be able to even step inside while wearing your slippers.
Well, that’s also a plus point for us since we know much they ensure their courts are well-kept for all the players.
They’ve got pretty good lighting too. Imagine playing with your friends, with zero glare—which also means frequent smash attempts without blinding yourself!
Meanwhile, if you’re just planning to stay with your friends during training, you’ll love that they have a very welcoming lobby area for visitors. Apart from being stylish, this area is pretty comfortable so don’t worry about staying for hours here!
You also don’t need to worry about securing parking spots as there are plenty of those in the venue even on a weekend.
Pros
Lots of parking spaces
Great lighting
Well-maintained bathrooms
Has a comfortable lounge for spectators
Cons
Reception staff could be more welcoming
Limited sizes for their badminton shoe rentals
Offers stringing service
“Exceptional customer service is provided here. The team is highly attentive and promptly attends to your needs. ERSC has the best badminton stringing service in my opinion. Strings last longer and maintain their tension better than those from other providers. Highly recommended ERSC.”
“Favourite badminton centre! Courts have great cushioning and very responsive to push off of. There’s air conditioning as well, never felt stuffy or overheated in there. What really sets this place apart is the lighting, there’s no other venue with lighting as clean as this. Stringing service is top notch, and the front desk are super helpful!”
