Xiang Chuan Mansion is home to authentic Sichuan and Hunan cuisine in the Richmond area in Vancouver. Even when the kitchen and tables are getting busier, we love to see that customers still get impressive service from the servers.
It’s also great that this Chinese restaurant is very spacious. We appreciate that the tables are spaced out nicely, allowing customers to move freely around their area.
While the restaurant is newly renovated, we love that we can still keep the Chinese decor, adding to the overall authentic Chinese dining experience.
What we like about this Chinese restaurant is its big servings, even for appetizers, making it a great option for large groups dining out.
Meanwhile, we’re also pleased to know that families with smaller kids will have a convenient time dining here at Xiang Chuan because of their high chair provision. Even better, they have kid-set menus available too!
When it comes to food, this Chinese restaurant is known to serve spicy dishes. Nonetheless, we commend them for offering milder options, perfect for those who are not fans of a very spicy menu.
It’s worth noting, however, that queuing during holidays could be longer than expected. Additionally, other popular dishes may become unavailable towards a later time of the day.
Big servings
“Very spacious and nice place. Portion is big, price is not cheap though so better for sharing. Very spicy and suitable for cold weather. The service is always nice and kind. I d def come back again to try more food. There is private room. Hard to find parking. Kid friendly there is high chair and sets for baby”

Affordable rates
“Went here with a friend from church. The food was delicious and authentic. It is quite affordable, with 3 dishes and 2 bottles of Tsingtao Beer only caused $78.85 before the tips!”

For those who love authentic Chinese chicken dishes then Cloud 9 Delicacy in Richmond is the place to be! We appreciate how they season the chicken well, making us feel like being transported to Asia in just one bite!
We love that they have large servings, allowing customers to share their orders with friends and family.
Another thing that we love about this Chinese restaurant is that their side dishes vary occasionally. This allows their customers, especially their loyal clientele, to try something new whenever they visit.
While their dishes offer authentic Chinese taste, we had to wait more than 30 minutes before our food was served. Because of this, those who don’t want to spend a lot of time in a restaurant may have to consider other options.
We also find it a bit challenging to engage with the staff as they don’t speak English too well. So be ready with those online translators while dining at Cloud 9 Delicacy!
On a lighter note, we love that we can conveniently find parking spots around the area, preventing us from spending so much time just to secure a slot. Just avoid going to the area during the rainy season, as the area has existing flooding issues.
Flavorful side dishes
“Freshly fried with a super crispy outer layer. The chicken inside is juicy and well-seasoned! Provide generous portion of meat and rice that is sufficient for two people! I also love their side dishes! They are all flavorful and mouth-watering! I would definitely come back and try other dishes!”

Chicken is tender and juicy
“Must try! The chicken was sooo tender and juicy, simply the best we’ve had. The pork belly was not as tender as we expected but very tasty and flavourful. They also included lots of veggies and pickles. Potion was huge too and the food wasn’t too salty.”

HK BBQ Master is home to popular Cantonese dishes such as duck and pork roast. While these two are crowd-favorites, we love how they keep an extensive menu to cater to their other customers’ craving for other authentic Chinese dishes.
We love how accommodating their staff is. They can even make special arrangements for those who follow strict dietary plans.
When it comes to serving portions, we appreciate that they have ample serving, keeping the customers full. Even better, they’re known to serve quickly, making this restaurant a perfect spot for those who need a quick bite.
We also appreciate that they serve a cup of tea, making the overall dining experience an authentic one.
When it comes to parking, we love that customers are given a parking spot for free. Additionally, there’s plenty of parking space, making it easy to find a spot even during peak hours.
It’s worth noting, however, that the restaurant is quite small. During peak hours, waiting time is quite longer than expected due to the restaurant’s seating capacity.
Meanwhile, when it comes to payment, this Chinese restaurant doesn’t accept cards and other cashless payments. Don’t forget to bring enough cash before dining here.
Tasty soup of the day!
“This place is so good!!! It is always so busy but the line moves really quickly for dine in. Their line for take out is even longer but it also moves very fast. Both the bbq duck and pork are so yummy and affordable. A combo with rice, meat and broccoli is around $15. The soup of the day is also delicious and I think it’s most of the time boiled from duck bones, as they have different soups everyday. Their milk tea is really sweet but yummy. Also be aware that this is cash only!”

Swift service
“Always a long line but so worth it. They have a separate line for take out and dine-in, so if you’re eating here, make sure you get on the waitlist. Service is fast, and this isn’t really a place you go for ambiance. Get the soy sauce chicken and bbq pork combo. Rice is also cooked very well, and goes so well with the sauce, which you can ask for extra on the side along with chili oil. The Hong Kong milk tea is also good.”

Another restaurant around Richmond that offers authentic Cantonese cuisine is Tou Lok Kitchen. We love how we can grab flavorful dim sums and stir-fried vegetables any day of the week!
Upon entering the restaurant, we love how it gets even more inviting as the smell of authentic spices goes out from the kitchen. When food is served, we love that the chef takes his time in presenting all the dishes very well.
We also appreciate that even during busier times of the day, they still serve fast, making it a perfect spot to share a meal with families and friends without having to wait for too long.
Moreover, we commend their staff for staying attentive. They quickly respond to their customers’ additional requests—without the need to follow up!
What’s also great about this Chinese restaurant is that they have kid-friendly dishes, so parents with little kids can be slowly introduced to Chinese flavors.
However, we find their dishes to be on the pricier side. Those who are working on a budget, especially those who plan to treat a large group may have to review their pricelist first.
Meanwhile, onsite parking is quite limited so be ready to park on the curbside during busier times of the day.
Additionally, it took us quite some time to find the restaurant as the place was a bit confusing.
Dishes aren’t oily
“I cannot believe how good this place is. If you’re looking for good Chinese food, I would definitely recommend it. Although the place is small, each one of their dishes are filled with flavorful sensations that lather your tongue with richness. You can tell that the chef really put his skills into his cuisine. Although many restaurants have a lot of oil in their dishes, for this one, you can’t even taste the oiliness. It feels so natural and tempting. It makes you want to try out more of their dishes. We ordered three dishes, and including tax, it rounded up to $100 or so. The place is quite expensive, however it’s good.”

Fat Dragon Chinese has its own take on classic Chinese dishes through its creative and sustainable farm-to-table food and beverages, which we find impressive.
Upon entering the restaurant, we appreciate being welcomed by the friendly staff. We also find their chairs comfortable to sit at, especially after a long day of walking around the area.
We also love that their single servings are quite large. So those who don’t have a large capacity may plan to share one dish with friends—or maybe take leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch!
We’re also pleased to see their wide range of cocktails during happy hour. We love how the bartenders would make sound recommendations, especially for first-time customers.
Another thing that we love about this Chinese restaurant is that it has a private dining room. Because of this, intimate gatherings can be best enjoyed with more personalized customer service.
This room comes in handy, especially those with noise sensitivity issues as we find Fat Dragon Chinese’s acoustics to be quite bad.
It’s also worth mentioning that reservations may have to be made in order to skip longer queuing.
On a lighter note, we appreciate how the restaurant’s staff stays attentive to their customers. Even better, they approach each table just to politely ask if there are any additional requests or orders they need.
Authentic with a twist
“Excellent all around. As a fan of Peter Chang, the dry fried eggplant was excellent with the hot mustard sauce being a nice twist.”

Friendly and interactive bartenders
“The food and atmosphere were great on a Saturday. Definitely get the chicken roll and firecracker shrimp apps! The bartenders were all friendly and interacted well. I appreciated the cider on draft at the time.”
