Can’t your fridge keep anything cool anymore? If so, try to get it repaired instead of buying a new one immediately, as a lot of fridges can actually be fixed for a pretty small cost.
We asked different people about their trusted appliance repair shops here and secretly contacted them to give you an unbiased list of the best companies for fridge repairs in this article. Let’s get started on our findings!
How much does a fridge repair in Vancouver cost?
Let’s discuss the cost of fridge repairs first before we head to the article.
The cost of fridge repairs can vary based on the replacement parts and the brand of the fridge. Some components, like the ice maker, can cost more due to the technology used for that, for example.
You can refer to the table below to see how much common replacement parts cost.
|Fridge Compressor||$50 and up|
|Ice Maker||$300 and up|
|Defroster||$100 and up|
|Freezer||$250 and up|
|Kick Plate||$60 and up|
These are just the average costs of the parts: each quote doesn’t include the labour fee. The price can also go higher or lower depending on how old the refrigerator is, as technology of a certain age may be more complicated to repair.
For reference, 18-cubic-foot fridges now start at around $800. This gives you an idea of how much you can stand to save if your fridge is still in good condition and requires only a small replacement to work again.

If you’re looking for a fast Vancouver-based refrigerator repair place, then Better Care is a good choice. They have a 24-hr service when needed and they can also do same-day repairs in many cases.
They also have a 1-year warranty on their parts and labour, assuring clients that if something breaks, this company can replace the parts free of charge.
Aside from those, they have experience dealing with a fair number of brands. We’ve found testimonials attesting to their employees successfully repairing units from manufacturers ranging from Sub-Zero to Smeg.
However, this company isn’t accredited by the Better Business Bureau. We often check for this as BBB accreditation means that a company takes complaints seriously and can fix them when needed.
Another thing is that they don’t typically keep replacements for relay OLP sets in stock. It might take a while before this company can fix your refrigerator if that’s what your unit needs, since they’ll need to source that part first.
For us though, these cons are very minor compared to the service that Better Care Appliance offers.
Here’s what customers are saying about them:
“Very knowledgeable technicians , reasonable prices and same day.
I could not ask for more that is exactly what I needed for my Fridge repair” – Maya Motors
“Don was so professional and helpful. He was at our house within an hour and fixed our fridge efficiently and with care. He explained the problem to us and has kindly taken our follow up questions as well. The cost was very reasonable given the service, and we’ll definitely be using Better Care again.” – Roja Safartabar

This company is another one that offers same-day services for their customers. Along with that, their technicians are insured by WorkSafeBC so you can be assured that you’re not liable in case an accident happens.
They can also repair different refrigerator brands. Moreover, they carry different replacement parts in their trucks so you won’t wait for a long time just for them to get their hands on the one you need when they do house visits.
Another thing that makes this company great is that they are BBB accredited. For us, that’s a good way to show commitment to customer service, and most of the people we talked to who’ve worked with them confirmed that they have that.
That being said, we do think this company still has some minor drawbacks.
Take note that this company doesn’t have 24-hour service. In other words, you may have to wait until the next day if you call them after 6 PM.
If you also prefer to contact businesses online, this company might reply late. They only have one form for general concerns and don’t have a special message form to ask for a quote.
Despite that, this company’s repair and service qualities qualify them to be one of the best places for fridge repair in Vancouver. Provided your needs fit the limits we mentioned, we think you’ll get the service you want here.

3. Pete’s Appliance Repair
|SERVICES||● Washer Repair|
● Dryer Repair
● Dishwasher Repair
● Refrigerator Repair
● Oven Repair
● Appliance Installations
|OPERATING HOURS||Monday-Friday: 8:30am–5pm |
Pete’s Appliance Repair advertises friendly customer service and their quality service. We checked them out to see if their ads were true… and they were, for the most part.
One of the first things we noticed was that when you call, technicians answer, not office staff. This is especially helpful when you don’t have the time to wait until they visit you to diagnose the problem with your refrigerator.
They also have genuine parts from most manufacturers and best of all, don’t mark up the prices. And yes, you get the part numbers too in your invoice, so you know that these are the original parts.
So why did we say “for the most part” earlier? Well, because availability is still one of our standards when judging repair services like these.
Fridges are pretty much crucial to most households nowadays. The longer a fridge is out of commission, the more food could be wasted and the greater the hassle.
And unfortunately, Pete’s Appliance Repair is only open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Decent hours for most offices, sure, but that means they don’t do emergency repairs.
Add the fact that they’re closed on Sundays and that means there’s a significant amount of time when they’re not available.
However, if your problem with the refrigerator isn’t an emergency and you can wait, the services from this Vancouver-based company are still top-notch. Hence, they still made our list of the best Vancouver fridge technicians.
These reviewers talk about their experience with this company:
“Pete was right on time, then went and picked up a missing part at no extra charge, then completed my dishwasher repair efficiently. He also helped me locate a broken drawer part for my fridge that a parts dealer previously told me was discontinued. Very helpful, knowledgeable and lovely to deal with.” – Nigel Malkin
“I have a fully functioning fridge thanks to Pete!
He takes the time to really figure out what’s wrong with your appliance. The work is done in a timely and efficient manner and he’s personable as well. I would recommend Pete to anyone!
Cheers, from the other Peter” – storm salon
4. Andy’s Appliance and Refrigeration
|SERVICES||● Refrigerators Repairs|
● Freezers Repairs
● Wine Coolers Repairs
● Washing Machines and Dryers Repairs
● Dishwashers Repairs
● Garburators Repairs
● Stoves and Ovens Repairs
● Bathroom Fans and Humidity Fans Repairs
This company has been in the business since 1993. Based on our survey, they are one of the most trusted fridge repair technicians in the Vancouver area.
The first thing worth noting is that they have been BBB accredited for 15 years. Based on that, it’s no surprise that their customers told us this company tries to solve complaints as much as possible.
Aside from that, their policies are very customer-friendly. In fact, we even noticed during our service call that they don’t upsell repairs or push for them if they feel they might be unwise.
What’s more, we learned that they don’t charge for extra travel time if there’s a need to pick up and deliver appliance parts. That’s great, as some other companies do and that can quickly drive up costs.
Andy’s Appliance and Refrigeration also provides a warranty. 90-days for electrical parts, 1 year for mechanical parts, which we think isn’t too shabby.
It’s probably worth mentioning that they don’t seem to work with too many refrigerator brands, though. For example, SMEG is not one of the brands whose units they can fix.
Another thing is that they only accept cash and cheque. Bit outdated, we think, as more and more shops are offering more varied payment options now, including credit cards.
For us though, the pros outweigh the cons for this company as they really do provide excellent service.
Here are some customers recounting their experience with this company:
“I have used Andy many times for servicing of a dishwasher, washing machine and a few fridges. Andy was always knowledgeable, punctual, courteous and honest. He leaves the place clean and tidy. I have since recommended Andy to several friends. Highly recommend him.”- Judy Lau
“Over the past 7 years, we have used Andy’s Appliances for several repairs in our home. He is honest, and responsive. He has fixed our Samsung glass cooktop when we cracked it, KitchenAid fridge freezer, Kenmore washer and dryer, and has also been upfront when at long last, our 14 year old washer was not worth fixing.He will recommend replacement rather than charging for a repair. I would highly recommend his services, and his fee to come to make an assessment is fair.” – Stephanie Hollis
5. Number One Appliance Service
|SERVICES||● Fridge Repair|
● Washer Repair
● Dryer Repair
● Oven Repair
● Stove Repair
● Dishwasher Repair
● Refrigerator Repair
● Gas Appliance Repairs
|OPERATING HOURS||Monday-Friday: 8am–7pm |
Saturday & Sunday: 8am–4pm
This is another pretty well-established business. The technicians of this Vancouver-based appliance repair shop have 10 years of experience repairing major North American brands.
Aside from that, this company is transparent about its estimation price, which we like. That price is also deducted from the repair fees (another good thing, in our opinion!).
They also allow weekend and evening appointments. However, if you’re scheduling on the weekend, note that you’ll need to schedule those appointments early as they have relatively short operating hours then.
Of course, that’s still better than not being available on weekends at all. And to be fair to them, their weekend services run from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, which is respectable (though still not the same as having emergency services).
We did have some issues with their online presence, by the way. Their website isn’t terribly polished, for one thing, and could even drive away some customers.
Moreover, this company doesn’t have an online messaging form where you can message them easily. You will need to either call or email them first instead of just submitting a form.
In our experience and from what others have told us, the fastest way to get a response from them is to call them. You may run into a minor communication issue depending on whom you get (our tech had something like a Slavic accent), but we found it fairly easy to understand after a moment or two.
These reviewers talk about this company doing fridge repairs for them:
“Sergiy responded to my call right away, he is very professional and was able to fix my fridge in no time. I will use his services again.” – Viviana Flores
“Amazingly fast and efficient service! Came on a Friday morning within a couple hours of my call. Ivan is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He got our fridge up and running like new again. Very reasonable prices.” – Nic N
