We’ve always been delaying fixing our patio area every spring. After all, our patio doors are still working, until our old door got stuck one winter afternoon.
That’s when we figured that it was time to finally proceed to our spring renovation plans. Since Novin Doors worked on our front door, we decided to call them first.
It’s great that they’re open on a Saturday. At least, we don’t have to leave work early on a weekday just to accommodate them at home.

Before dropping by their store, we made sure to save a few photos we’ve seen online. Honestly, we thought we would stick with our pegs, but we’re glad we listened to their suggestions.
However, we had to wait for two weeks before the new doors got delivered. We just wish that the staff was more proactive in informing us about the delays, instead of waiting for us to follow up.
We also had an issue with the seals, so they had to come back and fix the issue on our patio door.

Since our parents live in an older home, we already told them that upgrading the patio door won’t be as straightforward as they would’ve wanted.
After all, the door opening has significantly shifted over four decades, so we really had to find a contractor that could handle custom fit patio doors for old houses.
Our friend recently renovated their old patio door too, so when they recommended Long Life Windows & Doors, we knew we had to give them a try.
During the initial call, we made sure to emphasize that they’ll be working on an aging home, so we were really happy when they informed us that they’re really comfortable and confident enough to take on the project.
A day later, we loved that someone from their team was already getting detailed measurements at our parents’ home. You can also expect them to check your drainage systems, ensuring there are no water leaks near the patio door frame.
However, we encountered a few issues during installation. Some of the things we discussed during the initial call weren’t cascaded well to the foreman, which made us micromanage them on the spot.
Nonetheless, their foreman made sure that the installers are working non-stop, allowing them to meet the agreed timeline.

Another patio door contractor that works well with older homes is Terra Doors. We visited their showroom when we were shopping for outdoor tiles, but we also took a peek at their patio door selections.
We ended up chatting with their friendly staff who eventually handed us different sample frames on the spot. Yes, the casual “just taking a peek” session turned out to be a pre-planning phase for our outdated patio area.
While you’re there, make sure to ask questions so you can clarify everything before you proceed with your renovation project. But don’t worry, you can expect them to respond quickly over email too.
What’s great about them is that they can manage to provide standard doors as well as customized ones. And when we say customized, you’ll love that you can really get very specific with the style and size that your patio needs.
Just don’t expect Terra Doors to carry modern styles and hardware.
Meanwhile, we had to wait for almost a week for our customized doors to arrive. So if you’re in a hurry, you may have to reconsider working with this patio door contractor.
Our patio door frame was a bit warped on the right, but we were glad that their team was able to fix the alignment on the spot, even if we forgot to mention it during the initial call.
