When it comes to window treatments in Vancouver, we’d be remiss not to bring up Civic Blinds. Gaining its popularity among locals for its motorized shades and blinds, we just had to drop by and check out the magic for ourselves.

Civic Blinds largely stocks blinds and shades. Their blinds catch our eye for the sheer variety of materials and patterns on hand. Their faux wood and Venetian blinds were reportedly popular among customers for their natural wood grain finish!

We didn’t have to wait long to hear about their services and products either, as we found the team very responsive to inquiries. They answered all of our questions in a timely fashion, with customers we spoke to experiencing much the same timeliness.

Customers also praised the shop’s motorization services. Apart from the customizability of their materials, their motorized shades could even integrate into smart homes and featured a sleek look that hid cords and connectors well.

That being said, we’d advise settling in for a wait. Customers mentioned the delivery times at the shop being quite long, so order ahead if you need your blinds quickly!

Finally, a few customers also advised checking to see if everything works as intended and if your materials are suitable, as it can take a similar length of time to follow up on their services.

Pros

  • Wide selection of materials and patterns
  • Responsive and professional team
  • Reliable options for motorized shades

Cons

  • Difficulty following up on services
  • Long waiting times for delivery

Convinced me they would deliver superior results

Windows might come in tons of standard shapes and sizes, but what if your house has something that’s bigger or smaller? Well, we were wondering the same thing, and it was that inquiry that led us to Greystone Blinds.

Greystone featured quite a wide variety of blinds and shades, especially in different types. Looking for vertical, horizontal, or even zebra blinds for a full window covering? You’re likely to find something unique for your home here.

We got to chat with a few regular and new customers alike, and both praised the staff’s recommendations after inspections. The staff was reportedly able to recommend blinds or shades to suit their rooms’ interiors and the sizes of their windows.

Customers also reported reasonable rates for their window treatments, both for the actual blind or shade ordered and the installation services.

One factor that was excluded from this pricing was their maintenance costs, which a few customers let us know were quite high compared to other window treatment shops and installers.

Finally, some customers also left us with a word of advice to clarify what fell under their warranty or not, as quite a few noted difficulties with availing their warranty.

Pros

  • Reasonable prices
  • Reliable staff inspection and recommendations
  • Wide range of supported window sizes and shapes

Cons

  • High costs for maintenance
  • Difficulty availing a warranty on products

Well, it can’t get any more cut and dry than this. Standard blind designs are good and all, but what about the interior designers out there with a dream design in mind? Well, those designers pointed us to the Wholesale Blind Factory.

Given their name, it’s no surprise the shop had quite a number of supported window treatments in stock. If their standard stock doesn’t impress you, though, they also offer customized window treatments for specific window shapes and sizes.

It was their material selection that really caught our eye. Whether you’re looking for a standard fabric shade or shutters made from hardwood for a natural look, you’ll probably be spoilt for choice browsing through their options. At least, we were!

Customers especially praised these materials for their light filtering for solar shades and blackout blinds. A few fur parents even let us know that the materials used were pet-safe, so you don’t have to worry about your pets getting tangled.

That being said, a few customers mentioned wanting to see some improvement in the shop’s measurements. Some reportedly noticed inaccuracies in the measurements of their blinds and shades after installation.

We also have to note that the products at the shop were quite pricey when we inquired, so keeping a budget in mind before you consult is always recommended.

Pros

  • Reliable and varied light filtering options for fabric
  • Robust customization options for materials
  • Pet-safe materials used

Cons

  • High cost of products
  • Measurements may still be improved

Love the options of light filtering or total blackout

“Functions smoothly and really gives a minimalist clean modern look. The light grey color matches our wall quite well. Love the options of light filtering or total blackout during the daytime.”

– Ms. Irene Ng, Google Reviewl

Shades had a similar look and feel

“Blinds are such a visible part of your home, and we were so pleased to find Wholesale Blinds to work with us. We got both black-out and solar shades, so it was great that their materials for those shades had a similar look and feel.”

– Mr. Munro Stuff, Google Review

Now this was a nice surprise for us. If you’re in the market for something softer to the touch than hardwood shutters and blinds, then Lux Blinds might be worth a visit. Locals pointed us their way after we asked around for shops offering drapery!

Lux Blinds also stocked a few standard types of window treatments, like blinds, shutters, and shades.

It was their drapery and valances that stole the show for us, though. The range of fabrics and patterns they offered allowed for a lot of customization.

That being said, we do have to note that we only found out about these through their consultations. The company doesn’t have a physical showroom of its own. We’d recommend getting in touch to browse through samples like we did.

The team was at least very proactive and transparent from the start, even sharing their price estimates. Handy for planning ahead!

Customers we chatted to were happy to report the clean installation process for their window treatments, with the team arriving on time and leaving little to clean up afterwards.

Finally, we’d recommend shooting them an email or getting in touch through their social media, as a few customers also let us know that their phone lines could get quite busy.

Pros

  • Wide selection of patterns for drapes and valances
  • Proactive and transparent communication
  • Clean installation

Cons

  • No physical showroom
  • Difficulty contacting the team by phone

They have options available to fit any budget

“Ramin was great on our initial consultation and was able to give us great recommendations for custom drapes. He was able to answer all our questions. They have options available to fit any budget.”

– Ms. Lisa Tran, Google Review

The quality of the materials is top notch

“Ramin and Armin are amazing! They did such a great job. They helped us choose what would look good and be functional for our needs. The quality of the materials is top notch, couldn’t be happier.”

Well, it says it right on the tin. If you’ve tried looking for window treatments at all in Vancouver, there’s a chance you’ve run into Budget Blinds! Or so the locals who pointed us their way told us. With a name like that, how could we not pay them a visit?

The shop offered blinds, shades, shutters, and drapes, all with various patterns and finishes. Looking for a natural wooden finish or a bright color to make your room pop? We found quite a range offered.

The team was also very responsive and professional, readily answering any inquiries we had about their materials and pricing. We appreciated the quick response, especially for customers needing to plan a budget ahead of time.

This responsiveness also extended to their follow-up services, which customers we got to chat with praised. The team was reportedly quick to follow up and fix any issues that arose after installation.

That being said, customers did advise us to hunker down for a wait. A few reported having to book multiple appointments for the shop to finish installing all their window treatments, leading to longer service times than with other shops.

Lastly, customers also mentioned wanting the installation to be a little cleaner. We’d recommend preparing the area around the window you’re getting the treatment installed on, especially on the day of installation.

Pros

  • Reliable maintenance and follow-up services
  • Professional and informative team
  • Easy to browse designs and patterns

Cons

  • May need multiple appointments to finish the service
  • Cleanliness of installation can still be improved

Excellent customer service for follow up

“We’ve had our blinds for over a year and the whole process has been great; from the in home consultation to the installation. And in the year following installation excellent customer service for follow up.”

– Ms. Lee-Anne Perron, Google Review

“Our remote automatic top and bottom functioning blind was serviced in a very timely manner and the service was exceptional. I highly recommend this company if you are looking for any type of blind.”
