By public transit: Take public transit to UBC using buses like 4, 14, 25, 33, 43, 44, 84, 99, or 480. The museum is a 10-minute walk from the bus loops.

Dorothy, an elasmosaurus exhibited at the Pacific Museum of Earth, belonged to the plesiosaur species and thrived during the late Cretaceous period, approximately 80 million years ago.
She roamed the waters of the Western Interior Sea of North America, as well as other ancient oceans of that time.
It’s an interesting exhibit, especially when you’re interested in dinosaurs, as you’ll get to learn about the unique adaptations and behaviors of marine reptiles during the time of the dinosaurs.

This exhibit features the geologic map of British Columbia where you can learn about how the province came to be, why it’s shaped as it is, and why there is land in one portion instead of ocean.
Every hue on the map signifies an individual map unit or a cluster of rocks or sediments that are distinct in their age, composition, or where they were formed, making them stand out from all other map units.
To begin interpreting the map, the initial step is to locate the map key. This usually takes the form of a table or list, which clarifies the meanings behind any colors and symbols utilized to depict geological characteristics on the map.

The Jelly Roll is a unique geological formation that originated from an underwater avalanche known as a turbidity current.
What makes the Jelly Roll particularly extraordinary is its size; typically, such formations are measured in centimeters, but this one spans meters!

One of the highlights of their exhibits is the tornado machine. This machine uses a combination of a fan, directed air streams, and water vapor, which creates a visible funnel cloud.
You’re encouraged to interact with the tornado machine by putting your hands inside to feel the air currents and even disrupt the funnel cloud to watch it reform right before their eyes.
