That’s why I’ve compiled this list of Vancouver’s best steakhouses, each offering incredible cuts and an atmosphere inviting heartfelt conversations. Join me as we explore my favorite places to savor steak and create unforgettable memories!

What I love about Elisa is their open kitchen and bespoke wood-fired grill. The selection of meats, including Canadian and U.S. Prime beef and Japanese Wagyu, is truly impressive, ensuring top-notch quality with every bite.

The menu isn’t just about steak—it also offers standout seafood options and vegetarian-friendly dishes. I was pleasantly surprised by the truffle-roasted chicken dish I tried.

If you’re a wine enthusiast, you’ll also appreciate Elisa’s extensive wine list, which features selections from British Columbia and worldwide. It’s easy to find the perfect pairing for your meal.

Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar has been around since 1955, and let me tell you, it’s a classic gem. The dark mahogany accents and intimate lighting create a luxurious yet welcoming atmosphere—perfect for any occasion.

One of the things I love about Hy’s is their commitment to quality and tradition. They serve up some of the best prime-grade steaks I’ve ever tasted, and the tableside service is a delightful throwback to classic dining experiences.

Let’s talk about the bar—it’s fully stocked with an impressive selection of cocktails, including their signature cold martinis. I can’t get enough of their famous Cheese Toast paired with a pre-dinner drink at the bar. 

Oh, and don’t get me started on the special events and seasonal menus. They have this amazing “Taste of Fall” menu with a great price for a three-course meal. And their Happy Hour? It’s fantastic – awesome deals on drinks and appetizers.

3. Gotham Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar

Gotham Steakhouse is housed in a historic building from the 1930s, which gives it a unique and elegant vibe. The interior is stunning, with velvet curtains, mahogany walls, and beautiful Art Deco paintings that create a luxurious atmosphere. 

They’re one of Canada’s largest consumers of prime-grade beef. The menu perfectly blends classic and innovative dishes, featuring amazing steaks, fresh seafood, and lighter options like tuna poke and burrata salad.

They have private dining options for special occasions and a lovely lounge area with live music most nights. I also had a great time during their Happy Hour from 3 PM to 6 PM, where you can enjoy discounted cocktails and small.

My personal favorite was the Tomahawk steak – not only was it a visual spectacle, but it was also incredibly delicious. They also host special events and offer discounts during their Social Hour, making it a fantastic spot for any occasion. 

4. The Victor

The Victor takes pride in its innovative approach to surf and turf. Its menu features top-quality steaks, fresh Pacific Northwest seafood, and an impressive sushi bar. 

The spacious dining room accommodates over 150 guests, making it suitable for intimate dinners and larger gatherings. I was especially delighted by the interactive element of the open kitchen, where skilled sushi chefs craft their art. 

To top it off, The Victor hosts special events like “Victory Hour,” offering drink specials, fresh seafood, and a delightful Sunday brunch featuring a three-course Prime Rib dinner. 

5. C|Prime

C|Prime is a hidden gem combining Italian cuisine with a classic steakhouse vibe. It’s known for its prime cuts of steak and handmade pasta, and let me tell you, they live up to the hype. 

Executive Chef Behshad Zolnasr’s culinary expertise shines through in every dish. The place also boasts a stunning wine room with an impressive selection from around the world, which I found to be a lovely addition to the dining experience.

The ambiance at C|Prime is elegant, with modern decor and warm lighting, creating a welcoming atmosphere for any occasion. I especially enjoyed the Omaha ribeye, perfectly cooked and paired with an amazing au poivre sauce.

6. Chop Steakhouse & Bar

Chop Steakhouse & Bar in Vancouver is a steak lover’s paradise. It offers top-notch quality, amazing flavor, and a commitment to sustainability, which impressed me.

Chop takes its beef seriously, sourcing and aging the finest Canadian cuts for at least 35 days. It uses a custom blend of spices and advanced cooking techniques, such as infrared broiling, to ensure each steak is perfectly seared and bursting with flavor.

The menu focuses on classic steakhouse fare, including fresh seafood options and delicious plant-based dishes. My favorite was the filet mignon, cooked to perfection and served with garlic butter – an absolute delight! 

The restaurant is stylish and inviting, with a vibrant bar area where you can enjoy handcrafted cocktails or choose from an extensive selection of wines and local craft beers. 

7. The Keg Steakhouse and Bar

Established in 1971, the Keg Steakhouse and Bar is renowned for its high-quality steaks and inviting atmosphere. The steaks are aged for extra tenderness and flavor; each cut is perfectly grilled. 

The ambiance perfectly balances casual and elegant, with warm lighting and rustic decor creating a welcoming environment. The menu is primarily steakhouse fare, featuring legendary cuts like the Filet Mignon and Prime Rib. 

They offer a spacious dining room, a lively bar area, and private dining options for special events. The relaxed yet upscale ambiance is perfect for casual gatherings or more formal celebrations. 

During my visit, I indulged in their famous Keg Burger and a refreshing mojito during their happy hour specials. The restaurant also offers gluten-free options and can accommodate large groups or private parties.

8. Joe Fortes

Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House has been around since 1985 and is a go-to spot for seafood and steak enthusiasts. The restaurant exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere with its classic American cuisine theme.

Now, let’s talk about the food. My favorite dish is the Manhattan Steak & Frites—it’s cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. Let’s not forget about the extensive wine list—over 300 selections.

The high ceilings and elegant decor add a touch of sophistication while still maintaining a comfortable environment. Whether you want to enjoy your meal on the vibrant patio, private dining area, or lively piano bar, they’ve got you covered. 

I appreciated the option to reserve private dining areas for special events. They also celebrate special occasions with complimentary desserts for birthdays or anniversaries, which I found to be thoughtful.

9. Kobe Japanese Steak House

Kobe Japanese Steak House offers a unique teppanyaki experience. The menu offers a great variety, from succulent seafood to perfectly cooked steaks and fresh sautéed vegetables. 

One of the things I enjoyed about Kobe is the spacious teppanyaki tables where you can sit and enjoy the show. Each table accommodates up to eight guests, making it perfect for groups or families. 

The whole place has a cozy yet elegant Japanese vibe with traditional decor and warm lighting. It’s just the perfect setting for a great meal. My favorite dish is the lobster tail – it’s always tender and flavorful.

Oh, and here’s the best part – Kobe often has special events and promotions, so there’s always something exciting.
