Top 6 Recording Studios in Vancouver

Although your basement may have excellent acoustics, recording in a studio will almost certainly make a significant difference. After all, producing outstanding music requires excellent sound and vocals.

If you're an aspiring musician, voice artist, or singer, using a space equipped with monitoring, mixing, listening, and recording spaces are just what you need.

Luckily, Vancouver is packed with professional recording studios to help you achieve clean and precise audio. Let's check out our top picks of the top recording studios in Vancouver:

Top 5 Recording Studios in Vancouver

Your natural musical talent is deserving of more than just the best instruments and equipment. The road to your dream may be rocky, but we want to make sure you're well taken care of.

Because of this, we explored the whole city to find the finest recording studios for you. We used the following criteria to do so:

How much does a recording studio cost in Vancouver?

Recording studio rates are heavily influenced by the equipment required and the number of hours you intend to use. If you’re not sure how to use the tools, recording studios also offer production services.

Below are the average estimated cost of renting a recording studio in Vancouver:

ServiceRates
Studio rental$30 - $60 per hour
Studio rental with engineer$100 - $500 per hour
Editing and Mixing$200 - $400 per hour
Music and Video Production$500 - $1000 per hour
Multimedia Recording$1000 - $5000 per hour
Equipment and Gear– You should evaluate studio equipment to determine whether it meets your wants and needs. Consider whether their equipment guarantees good results.
Facilities – Consider how much space you’ll need for your project. Is the live room large enough? Do you require a lot of isolation rooms? Is the studio near any rowdy establishments such as bars, hotels, or casinos?
Music Production Service – New artists who are unfamiliar with studio equipment may require assistance in navigating the studio. This is why studios that provide assistants and engineers were included.
Customer Service and Availability – Perhaps the most important of all is to be comfortable in a space that meets your needs. These studios are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and have flexible operating hours for daytime artists as well as those who are more creative at night.

Blue Light Studio first opened its doors to the public in 2021, and since then, they have hosted local and international artists to record their talents.

Their facility includes two recording studios, three production suites, a lounge, a kitchen, and a patio with views of Vancouver’s mountains.

When it comes to equipment, this studio ensures that it is up to date with the most recent models. We like how they have a wide range of devices to meet the needs of artists.

However, we are not thrilled that they only have two recording studios, but they offer different sizes to house big and small projects simultaneously.

We’re amazed that they have had the pleasure of recording with famous artists such as JP Maurice, The Boom Booms, Folk Roadshow, Boyce Avenue, and Carmen and Camille.

We know that artists differ in terms of when they are most productive. This studio has flexible hours because it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can book at any time of day.

One thing that makes Blue Light stand out is how all their staff, ranging from producers, engineers, and interns are musicians and music fans. No one knows how to record music better than those who do it themselves.

Pros

Cons

  • No pricing guide on the website or social media platforms

The Warehouse Studio’s overall aesthetic and rich history astounds us as they show us around their multiple studios and high-end equipment.

What fascinates us most about this company is its multi-media recording facility.

This establishment offers a range of services including band tracking, vocals, and overdubs, mixing, narration, plus voice to picture, ADR and Walla, and Source Connect via Skype and phone patch.

We like that The Warehouse also provides film and photography services. This made them stand out to us because this is especially useful for shooting album covers.

Furthermore, their photography studio is extremely spacious and well-lit, with two adjacent rooms for hair, makeup, wardrobe, and workstations, as well as a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and a full-size kitchen.

The studio boasts its reputation built on years of high-quality services, superb equipment, gear, numerous studios, and experienced professional sound engineers.

Their ability to produce video is what distinguishes it. They can assist you in transforming your music into a visual masterpiece by providing you with all of the tools required to complete post-production.

Plus, Rupert Neve himself, the pioneer designer of professional audio recording, gave his seal of approval to The Warehouse last 2002.

In comparison to others, The Warehouse Studio only offers a maximum of 10 hours. However, we like that it is still possible to request more time if necessary.

Pros

  • Wide range of services
  • Years of experience
  • 4 studios available

Cons

  • No pricing guide on the website or social media platforms
  • Limited studio rental time

Monarch Studios first opened its doors to the public in 2012. This studio really caught our attention because they have become home to some of Canada’s most talented artists despite being fairly new to the industry.

Award-winning producer Tom Dobrzanski designed the studio, and it was built from scratch with incredible attention to detail.

Unfortunately, they only have one studio available. However, it boasts four isolated rooms for tracking: a live room, a spacious isolation booth, a vocal booth, and an amp room.

These rooms are interconnected with speakers and instrument lines for adjustable and creative designs.

Monarch Studios’ attention to detail is something we noticed. Despite the fact that they only had one studio, we didn’t feel like their services were lacking in any way.

This establishment prides itself on its high-quality equipment, a well-organized and well-lit studio, and friendly staff.

We also love their private artist lounge. It includes a kitchen equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, and fridge where artists can hang out and enjoy their meals together.

Musicians will love their cable television, video games, and foosball. Wifi is also available both in the lounge and throughout the studio. Plus, we enjoy the complimentary coffee!

Despite having a limited pricing guide, Monarch provides its hourly rates. We appreciate how honest and transparent they are when it comes to their fees. You can send them a message to get a quote.

This studio has flexible hours because it is open around the clock, so you can book at any time of day.

Pros

  • Minimum 4-hour booking required
  • Offers recording packages

Cons

  • Limited pricing guide
  • Only has on studio available

Customer Reviews

Excellent studios

“This studio is top-notch. Yes the gear and layout are fantastic, the place is clean and bright, and there’s plenty of room to load in and out equipment, but that’s only the start. The most important feature was Alex. He was amazing sound engineer. Incredibly fast on the board and with mic setups, a great listener, always 100% present with us and attentive to our (admittedly often vague) artistic direction. I can’t recommend this place more.” -Brandon W.

Amazing customer support

“Monarch Studios is an absolute gem in Vancouver. I went into the studio with no experience in recording and I was both taught and helped along with every step of the process. I can’t thank Monarch and Tom enough for my time there. I will be heading back very very soon to finish my project!.” Adam G.

We love Armoury Studios’ location in Vancouver’s stunning West coast city. They opened in 1993, and ever since then, they have worked with numerous producers, engineers, and international artists like Ariana Grande, Drake, and Bruno Mars.

Armoury takes pride in its architecturally stunning building as one of Canada’s rare purpose-built high-end recording facilities.

In 1993, the building was purpose-built as a studio. Designer Jim Vallance believed that the “form follows function” approach was the most outstanding design and architecture principle.

What distinguishes Armoury Studios is their availability for TV and film location shoots. This is ideal for aspiring musicians who want to release their first music video and directors who want to make their film debut.

Even though an engineer is not included when you book their studio, assistants, and runners are ready to help you navigate and make the most of your session.

We like how the Armoury live room has great acoustics and natural light. The room is spacious, and we especially like the skylight window above the recording room, which adds a light and airy feel to the space.

Plus, we’ve talked with numerous clients who worked with Armoury, and we got a lot of positive reviews saying how much they’ve enjoyed recording in their studio.

Pros

  • Years of experience
  • Full music and video production package

Cons

  • No pricing guide

Customer Reviews

Wonderful facility

“Armoury Studios is such a beautiful place.  The studios were designed and constructed in the early 90s and has a feel of an in-home studio with it’s amenities.  If I was a rock star, this is where I’d want to record.  Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks so; AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Cranberries, and Nickelback are just some of the bands that have their awards hanging on the walls of their album’s birthplace.” Kevir K.

Helpful engineers

“Very nice atmosphere with amazing sound engineers! Special thanks to Spencer for great mixing job!.” Dominic W.

Soundhouse opened to the public over ten years ago, and since then, it has been established as a staple in Vancouver’s creative community.

One thing that makes them stand out is how they’ve steadily built their collection of 13 upscale rehearsal rooms over the years.

What we like about this studio is that it fosters collaboration and innovation. They’ve invested in building collaborative spaces for corporate teams, musicians, content creators, podcasters, and everyone in between to make some noise.

However, we’re a little unhappy that Soundhouse doesn’t have the space to shoot music videos.

Regardless, this studio provides designated rooms that cater to musicians and live streams sessions such as corporate, gaming, and podcast video recording.

It’s also worth noting that Soundhouse’s studios are completely soundproofed, which means no background noises will be heard on your recordings, only pristine and concise audio.

When it comes to its facilities, Soundhouse boasts a 7000-square-foot rehearsal studio located near downtown Vancouver and serves the most successful musicians in the region.

Customers praised the studio’s facilities, and we received a lot of positive feedback. The majority of them agree that the location is ideal for practice.

Many of these repeat customers have used Soundhouse as a rehearsal space for years!

They are available for rehearsals, filming, photography, event rentals, music lessons, etc. We love the variety! Musicians can definitely appreciate the various services this studio offers.

Pros

  • Affordable pricing
  • Pricing guide available on website

Consistent top-notch service

“I’ve been booking rehearsal space with SoundHouse Studios for years now. They are consistently organized, clean, and accommodating with their equipment rentals.
