Sadohana is a family-owned and operated establishment in Vancouver that has operated for over 25 years.

We found it impressive that they’re one of the few businesses that offer a wide range of healing and training methods. This includes yoga therapy, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Japanese Jujutsu.

Diane Semark directs the company’s yoga therapy services. She is a yoga therapist and kokodo jujutsu shinan with more than 2,500 hours of teaching experience in Yoga Therapy and Shiatsu.

It also adds to her credibility that she has completed numerous trainings and received multiple certifications in various areas, such as yoga, Ashtanga, Shiatsu, and many more.

She provides one-on-one yoga therapies where customers have the option to practice in-studio or online. We believe this is beneficial for consumers who are unable to travel to their studio.

However, upon observation, we appreciate how accessible and spacious their yoga studio is, which we think is important to make clients feel comfortable.

You can also conveniently book her services online, where you can view available time slots.

That said, we only wish they were open on more days of the week to compensate for having only one yoga teacher.

Even so, we believe that Sadohana offers one of the best yoga services in Vancouver, as they have an experienced yoga mentor.

Pros

  • Wide range of healing and training methods
  • Experienced yoga therapist
  • Numerous certificates and training
  • Accessible and spacious yoga studio
  • Convenient online booking system

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays and Mondays
  • Only one yoga studio

Elements Wellness Centre is a multi-disciplinary center located in the Kitsilano neighborhood and is accessible via public transit.

Despite being relatively new in the industry, we believe this doesn’t affect their services as they provide a wide variety of therapies that promote healing.

Presently, they provide yoga therapy, acupuncture, facial rejuvenation, and numerous other naturopathic services.

In addition, it’s a wonderful touch that they offer a variety of seminars that we found valuable for consumers to maintain their activities.

The Elements Wellness Centre has three registered acupuncturists. They have extensive experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine and various fields such as orthopedics, women’s health, and mental health.

We believe this is advantageous since they can handle nearly all scenarios, regardless of their complexity. Also, it’s helpful that they talk about their suggestions in detail since they know that each patient has different needs.

Their yoga therapy sessions include postures, breathing exercises, and mindfulness techniques. We would also like to mention that their yoga treatment sessions are easy to follow, regardless of your level of experience.

Moreover, many of the customers we’ve spoken to have commented on how caring their staff is, as they always provide an educational and effective experience.

All in all, we highly recommend Elements Wellness Centre if you’re looking for one of the best yoga therapy services in Vancouver.

Head Above Water specializes in providing one-on-one yoga sessions that aim to promote energy, healing, and interconnected breath flow. They have a client-oriented approach where they tailor their sessions to your body and goals.

We particularly found it impressive that they have highly-trained yoga therapists that can help address a variety of health concerns.

They have experience helping patients with pain management, injury rehabilitation, and stress relief for over 10 years.

Aside from that, they offer therapeutic yoga for those looking for techniques to alleviate physical pain and other connected issues.

This practice employs certain yoga poses as well as pranayama techniques to assist, maintain, and cure the body.

In case you’re curious, they also offer healing touch sessions, which use gentle hand techniques to re-pattern energy fields and accelerate recovery. Do take note that this service is only done with your informed consent.

Having said that, we would want to mention that they have relatively higher rates. We also wish they had more services so they could cater to a larger customer base.

Despite this, we still think they offer one of the best yoga therapy services in Vancouver, as they provide a comprehensive yoga therapy service.

Body Harmony provides therapeutically-based yoga therapy, which focuses on disease prevention and management. Meditations are used to teach mindfulness, posture, and breathwork.

This establishment only offers private sessions because they believe it allows them to provide more personalized services. We also think this is good because each student will get services that are tailored to their needs.

We found it convenient that customers have the option to take sessions online or in the comfort of their own homes. We also appreciate how flexible they are, as they allow customers to set their schedules ahead of time.

Unfortunately, you would have to bring your own yoga mat, as they can only provide straps, bolsters, and any other yoga equipment you may need.

Nevertheless, we liked that they have online yoga classes with four yoga styles to choose from. This includes Hatha, Hatha flow, restorative, and yin yoga.

Moreover, many of the customers we’ve spoken to have commented on how supportive and non-judgmental their instructors are, which helps put clients at ease.

In sum, we think Body Harmony deserves a spot on our list as they provide personalized yoga therapy sessions.

Pros

  • Therapeutically-based yoga therapy

  • Free 15-minute phone consultation
  • Flexible scheduling

Cons

  • No yoga mats available

Woodland Physiotherapy offers a wide variety of services that are ideal for those who need assistance with rehabilitation and movement.

We were instantly impressed by their extensive service area coverage, which includes Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, as well as adjacent areas. We feel this enables them to serve a huge number of customers.

Their approach to yoga therapy is what impressed us the most, as they have a holistic approach, which means they prioritize creating inner harmony.

They combine Western psychology and anatomy with ancient yogic methods, which we found interesting because they said that this creates overall balance and gives clients the power to improve control and endurance in the mind and body.

Another thing we found impressive is that they have C-IAYT-certified yoga therapists, which are highly-trained professionals. We believe this establishes their expertise.

If there’s one drawback that we’ve observed with them, it’s that they have relatively higher rates. The upside to that is that their yoga therapy services can be covered under your private insurance or your ICBC treatment plan.

All in all, we think Woodland Physiotherapy has one of the best yoga therapy services in Vancouver.

Pros

  • Wide variety of services

Jenn at Sitka offers 1-1 yoga therapy. She is an Advanced Teacher of Yoga (RYT-500) specifically trained in the therapeutic benefits of yoga, currently in her practicum toward her certification as a Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT). Through gentle yoga practices, Jenn empowers individuals to grow and transform toward their personal goals by exploring the deepest and most subtle parts of the body, breath and of life. Jenn is experienced in working with folks with chronic pain, injury, anxiety and depression, trauma, and specializes in working with the spine.

Sitka Physio & Wellness is one of the few clinics that pretty much offers every service one may need. Aside from yoga therapy, they offer physiotherapy, kinesiology, IMS, registered massage, golf assessments, clinical pilates, and acupuncture to name a few. Sitka practitioners are equipped with diverse skill sets, allowing patients to receive comprehensive services and treatment plans that ensure optimal, well-rounded, individualized and integrated care.

The team at Sitka Physio & Wellness offers unique and in-depth patient assessments that can include a look into a person’s history, traumas, meaningful tasks, symptoms and breath, as well as vector analyses and assessing nerve sensitivity, range of motion and muscle strength and length. This is why many patients who’ve seen physiotherapists and practitioners for years elsewhere, go to Sitka and finally get to the root issue of a problem.

We prefer them over other clinics because they create custom plans using their expert knowledge of manual therapy, specific exercise prescription and needling techniques (acupuncture and IMS) to relieve those painful symptoms and get you back to doing regular activities.

‘Very clean and professional clinic. I have serious neck and upper back pain from sitting at a desk 90% of the day, and Katy VantSchip has been able to rehab my issues more than any other physio ever has. Truly a lifesaver! Can’t say enough good things about this place.

“I had an amazing assessment by Helen Ries today , one that I never had before. Helen was so thorough ,asked such interesting questions and laid out some body connections ( fascia)that may be affecting my sore shoulder . She then did some gentle but focused manual treatment and gave me some valuable “homework” ! Thanks so much Helen!
