Studio atmosphere: We considered boudoir photography studios that offer a safe environment, making clients more confident and comfortable. We also checked if they provide stylish setups or backdrops that contribute to the overall mood.
Editing style: We verified that the studio can make minor retouches without altering the client’s features.
Wardrobe and makeup support: We considered studios that allow clients to access their closet. We also included those that have in-house makeup artists.
Experience: We checked if the photographers are creative enough to think of different poses that highlight the best features of their clients.
We weren’t really confident in doing boudoir photoshoots. To be honest, we were pushing it off until we lost a little more weight, thinking that’s what we needed to feel more confident.
However, since we had heard that the boudoir photography studios in Vancouver are so welcoming and warm, we finally booked that sultry session. It really felt freeing.
If you’re waiting for the right moment, take this as a sign to book that boudoir photography session too. Continue reading this blog as we explore each studio that we’ve tried and loved.

A few years ago, we became curious about boudoir shoots after seeing multiple posts on social media. Our friend recently had her 40th birthday boudoir shoot at Gloss Boudoir Photography Studio, so we decided to check it out too.
We were very nervous, not knowing what to expect, but upon seeing their loft-style space with soft lighting and very comfortable couches, we immediately felt at home.
The reviews that we read were true—their staff is really welcoming. The best part is that they’re also body-positive, making you love all your curves, no matter what age you are.
Additionally, their photographer, Marcee, appears to be an expert at reading the energy in the studio. This enables her to effectively deal with the most nervous clients.
If it helps, this boudoir photography studio is also LGBTQ+ friendly. In fact, the team here is very open with our transgender friends, which we really commend.
It’s also very helpful that they send their clients a complete checklist before the shoot. You can even expect to receive an email that covers outfit tips, including what to expect during the day of the shoot, which is really helpful during preparation.
They also have Kelsey as their resident hair and makeup artist, so you won’t have to look for this elsewhere. She’s a great option if you just want a more polished version of you—nothing too dramatic!
Pros
- Friendly, body-positive staff
- Cozy loft-style studio
- LGBTQ+ and trans-friendly space
- Helpful pre-shoot checklist
- On-site hair and makeup service
Cons
- A bit pricey compared to smaller photography studios
Pre-photoshoot emails are very helpful
“I had the most amazing experience with Gloss Boudoir today with an absolute dream team, photographer Marcee and makeup/hair artist Kelsey! From the moment I arrived, they made me feel completely comfortable, empowered, and beautiful. This was my first shoot, and the prep emails were so helpful, from what to expect, to outfit tips and a day of checklist. I felt totally prepared and supported throughout. Honestly, I thought this would be a one and done experience, but after today… I’ll definitely be back!”

“I had the most amazing experience at Gloss Studio! From the booking and follow up, to all the info regarding what to expect and outfit ideas etc, the entire process was helpful, streamlined and much appreciated. Was met by my wonderful makeup artist and photographer as I nervously arrived to the studio and instantly was made to feel welcome, safe and pampered. Marcie is so lovely and genuine. She put me at ease right away and made me feel like a star. Every woman should do this in her lifetime! It’s not just about sexy photos, it’s about celebrating womanhood and feeling empowered in your skin!”
