Established in 2004, Pacific Gastroenterology Associates is a board-certified clinic in Vancouver that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.

They have a team of skilled gastroenterologists and medical office assistants who have a lot of experience in many different areas of medicine. This includes general gastroenterology, cancer screening, nutrition, and many more.

We thought it was impressive that this clinic collaborates with the Gastrointestinal Research Group, St. Paul’s Hospital, the University of British Columbia, and BC Cancer.

This, we think, shows how dedicated the clinic is to providing excellent medical care and to being at the forefront of research and clinical practice.

Now, this clinic can treat numerous conditions, including colon cancer. However, it’s important to note that they only offer screening and diagnosis procedures such as colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, and sigmoidoscopy, to name a few.

Even though they don’t offer colon cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation, we liked that they’re still able to offer excellent care and advice to those who have been diagnosed with the condition.

Additionally, we liked that your BC Care Card covers their services. This means that if you live in British Columbia, your provincial healthcare will pay for the majority of the costs associated with diagnosis and screening.

Pros

  • Specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases
  • Experienced gastroenterologists
  • Collaborates with major organizations

Cons

  • Limited to screening and diagnosis procedures
  • Closed on weekends

We like West Coast Surgical Oncology in Vancouver because they provide comprehensive treatments for cancer patients.

They have a team of skilled surgeons, each with their own area of expertise, and a staff of medical professionals and cancer care specialists.

This clinic’s wide range of cancer treatments is what impressed us the most. They can treat six types of cancer including breast, skin, colorectal, thyroid, stomach, and peritoneal.

We appreciate that they thoroughly explain colon cancer symptoms, prevention, and treatments to their patients, which we think is important so they can make the best health decisions.

West Coast Surgical Oncology offers surgery, radiation treatment, and chemotherapy treatment to its patients.

We particularly liked that after completing treatments, patients will Undergo regular checkups with their surgeon. We think it’s a must to ensure that their health is managed.

That said, we were a bit bummed that they have limited patient capacity. This means that more people are left waiting for treatment.

However, we understand that this limitation is necessary to ensure that each patient receives the utmost quality of care.

In sum, we think West Coast Surgical Oncology deserved a spot on our list because they offer excellent patient care and have a great understanding of the importance of follow-up visits.

Pros

  • Provides comprehensive treatments for cancer patients
  • Wide range of cancer treatments
  • Mandatory regular checkups after treatment

Cons

  • Limited patient capacity
  • Closed on weekends

Cambie Surgery Centre opened in 1996 and is Canada’s only free-standing private hospital of its kind. We think it’s remarkable that they’ve provided surgical care to over 55,000 patients because it demonstrates their dedication and consistency.

While sports medicine is their primary focus, they also provide a wide range of medical procedures. Some of these are general surgery, gynecology, and ophthalmology, to name a few.

This clinic provides screening colonoscopies for the early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer. We particularly liked that they’re focused on prevention because this is essential in combating the rising prevalence of colorectal cancer.

Cambie Surgery Centre’s colonoscopy screenings typically last 30 to 60 minutes. We thought it was comforting to know that they provide sedative and pain medication to reduce patient discomfort.

Now, we’re disappointed that they’re closed on weekends as we think this limits their availability. However, we were happy to know that they have a big team of surgeons to compensate for this fact.

On the whole, we were impressed by the range of services provided by Cambie Surgery Centre, which is why we included them in our list of the top colon cancer clinics in Vancouver.

Pros

  • Years in business
  • Provided surgical care to over 55,000 patients
  • Sedative and pain medicine available
  • Big team of surgeons

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
  • No treatment options
