When it comes to fish and chips, Vancouver has no shortage of spots serving up this classic comfort food. I still remember biting into that perfectly crispy, golden batter with tender fish inside—fries on the side, of course. It was love at first bite.

If you’re on the lookout for a place where every bite feels like a seaside getaway, I’ve done the hard (and delicious) work of finding the top places for fish and chips in Vancouver. Trust me, these picks are worth every crispy bite.

If you’re craving some of the best fish and chips in Vancouver, you’ve got to check out Cockney Kings on Cornwall Ave, just a stone’s throw from Kits beach. They’ve been serving up their famous fish and chips since 1965.

The fish is fantastic—big, juicy pieces cooked in a deliciously crisp batter. We’d definitely recommend the haddock; it’s tender and packed with flavor, even more so than the cod.

The generous portion of fries that comes with the fish is perfect, and the coleslaw is super fresh. What makes Cockney Kings stand out is that everything is cooked in beef fat, giving the food a unique and tasty flavor.

If you prefer, you can have your fish grilled instead of fried. And it’s not just fish and chips—they’ve got plenty of other tasty options on the menu like onion rings, calamari, and fish tacos.

For a proper fish dinner, this place is hard to beat. They’ve got all the sides you need to complete your meal, including sauces like tartar, curry, and ketchup.

Pro tip:

If you’re a fan of tartar sauce, their premium option is worth the extra $0.75—it’s way better than the standard.

The atmosphere is really cool, making it a great place to enjoy seafood, whether you’re visiting or live in the city. For a fun and unique experience, we suggest sitting right at the counter where you can watch the staff prepare the dishes.

The fish and chips here are excellent, with a light, crispy, and airy batter that perfectly complements the meaty fish. The tartar sauce is amazing, the fries are crispy and well-seasoned, and even the coleslaw is fresh and delicious.

You can tell the seafood is top quality since you can see it swimming in the tanks!

Pro tip:

Just a heads-up, it’s a good idea to make a reservation, as walk-ins can result in a long wait.

This is a fantastic little outdoor spot for fish and chips, easily outshining similar places, especially with its better price per serving. Everything is made fresh and served piping hot, making it a must-visit.

We tried the halibut and chips, and the fish was incredibly fresh, flaky on the inside, and had a perfect crunch on the outside. But the real star was the fries—they were cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior in every bite.

The place is understandably crowded with locals, as it’s definitely worth coming back to. Located in the Fisherman’s Wharf area, it’s the perfect place to enjoy fresh fish with stunning views of downtown Vancouver and the water.

The fish and chips here are fantastic—tender and flavorful fish paired with classic tartar sauce and fresh coleslaw. If you’re planning to go, We’d recommend reserving a spot on the gorgeous garden rooftop for a truly memorable experience.

Hook Restaurant is hands down the best restaurant in English Bay! They’ve got a fantastic patio with sunset views and heaters to keep you cozy. The food is simply spectacular, with a real emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients.

The portions of fish and chips were generous, with the fish perfectly fried yet still incredibly fresh. I’d recommend adding prawns for an extra $8—originally suggested for salads or other entrées, but they worked it out as a side, and it was a great choice!

The cocktails were also fantastic, especially their Caesar, which is practically a meal on its own. It’s definitely a spot worth checking out. And with some of the best views of English Bay, a summer patio visit is a must!

Pro tip:

If you can snag a seat outside, you’ll have the perfect spot to watch the sunset!

The Vancouver Fish Company is a top-notch spot on Granville Island if you’re after high-quality seafood with a beautiful view of the water.

Overlooking the Granville Island Marina, it offers the perfect setting for a meal, combining delicious food with a lovely ambiance.

Their starters and main dishes are absolutely fantastic—everything from the halibut and squid to the fish and chips and seafood linguini is incredibly tasty. The halibut fish and chips, in particular, are some of the best in town.

The two-piece serving comes with a thin, light, and crisp batter that perfectly complements the juicy, tender halibut. It might cost a bit more than other places, but it’s definitely worth it.

Pro tip:

If you can, grab a seat outside on a sunny Sunday to really soak in the vibes. They also have a happy hour with a limited selection of drinks and food.

This spot is fantastic for deep-fried dishes and easily has the best fish and chips we’ve tried in North America. Everything on the plate was spot-on. Plus, their All You Can Eat option comes with unlimited refills for Pepsi products.

The in-house tartar sauce is amazing—fresh, tangy, and packed with dill, and you can squeeze out as much as you want. The onion rings and oysters were also great, and the tomato juice was both tasty and refreshing.

They offer a fantastic Family Deal for pick-up, which is perfect for feeding a crowd. For around $40, you get 20-23 pieces of fish, chips, coleslaw, and a 2-liter soda of your choice.

W’d say C-Lovers is one of the top spots for fish and chips in Vancouver. If you’re deciding between haddock and cod, We’d recommend going with haddock. While both have a similar flavor after being deep-fried, the haddock comes in a larger portion.

Pro tip:

If you order the All You Can Eat meal, make sure to put in your refill request a bit earlier, as it can take a while to get it.

The interior blends warm tones with a classic, elegant style, creating a setting that’s perfect for both intimate dinners and sealing those important business deals.

Definitely try the Halibut Fish and Chips. The dish includes two pieces of halibut with a crispy beer batter, classic tartar sauce, and coleslaw—it’s absolutely worth it.

During happy hour, you’ll find great value with beers and cocktails priced between $7-$10, and large portions of meals ranging from $9-$20. We sampled a bit of everything, but the $1.75 oysters and the fish and chips were the standout items.

Pro tip:

Don’t miss adding the crispy Brussels sprouts to your order—they’re hands down the best we’ve ever had.

This is a great casual spot for seafood on Granville Island. The place has a cozy and unpretentious vibe, and while it’s a bit pricey for what you get, it offers more value compared to other spots in the area given its location.

They offer a wide range of fish and chip options along with seafood dishes like mussels, clams, chowders, and various seafood platters, including scallops. Their fish and chips are outstanding.

The batter is perfectly done, the fries are crispy and not greasy, and there’s no stale oil taste. The tartar sauce is also excellent.

The cod here is the best we’ve ever had—moist and tender, needing little to no tartar sauce because it’s just right on its own.

Pro tip:

The restaurant can get quite busy during lunch, so it’s a good idea to plan your visit for after the lunch rush.
