Hot Wax Entertainment has been spinning tracks for over 40 years, making them one of the most established DJ services in Vancouver. They mostly cater to weddings and corporate events, though they also do parties and not-for-profit gatherings.
Since they cater to a wide range of events, they can be a real convenience for event coordinators who need a reliable and versatile team.
One thing that caught our attention about this company is that they have liability insurance, adding another layer of peace of mind to clients. Not all DJ services have this, so we think that Hot Wax Entertainment is a great find.
We’re also impressed with their equipment lineup, including 2 QSC K12 Mackie speakers. They also offer additional services, such as cool sparklers and a bliss star effect, which adds to the hype.
Many of the clients we talked to also described the DJ, Paul, as professional and personable. He accepts song requests and accommodates timing preferences. His transitions are also smooth.
Hot Wax Entertainment can be very strict with their bookings, though. They only accept bookings 30 days prior to the event, so they’re not ideal for rush hire.

“We hired Hot-Wax for our wedding in Vancouver and they certainly delivered. From beginning to end, they were on top of every aspect. From quick replies to my emails during the coordinating, to ensuring all of our requests came to fruition. On the big day, we had DJ Mike. He was on time and setup up his gear quickly. He hit all the ques for the ceremony and reception music as well as a few other requests we had made.
We ordered the additional LED up lighting which made the entire room pop. Highly recommend these lights!

It’s also a plus that they have enough number of DJs. They’ll match you with the one they think fits your event, but if you’re not satisfied with it during the initial call, you can request to change your DJ.
Additionally, we appreciate that they provide a backup DJ. This ensures you’re covered in case of unexpected issues—no awkward silence or even last-minute scrambling on the special day.
Their process is well-organized too. From the initial call to event-day coordination, clients consistently praised Air Waves for having a hassle-free onboarding process.

Their 20 years of experience gave us the confidence that they can deliver smooth DJ service to any event. They’ve successfully facilitated weddings, corporate parties, and even graduations.
DJs are also accommodating to special requests. A newlywed client said that DJ Shawn prioritised her mom’s song requests during their wedding, and it meant a lot to him. Also, he noted that DJ Shawn kept the guests dancing until the last hours.
We also love how proactive some of their DJs are, especially DJ Brown Sugar. He’s personable and even initiated multiple meetings to make sure he can execute the clients’ vision.
One thing to note, though, is that they have a very strict cancellation policy. You can’t get a refund for your deposit if you are unable to reschedule the event within 24 months.

We like how meticulous he is. He has questionnaires and guides that he communicates with his clients to ensure they set the right expectations on the day of the event.
Also, he has the expertise to read the vibe of the event and cope with the issues. For instance, a client said that DJ Gary was able to quickly play background music for the unplanned portion of the event. That left the audience with no awkward silence.
DJ Gary also offers karaoke hosting, which is a standout perk. Not all company has it, and it really adds an extra layer of entertainment. This is perfect for corporate events or parties where there’s crowd interaction.
However, keep in mind that being a one-man operation means his availability can be limited. Note that he’s also in demand, so booking early is essential.

We like supporting women, especially highly talented ones, so DJ Pri is on our list. She’s been rocking corporate, wedding, and private events since 2009.
We’re amazed by some great brands and companies she has worked with. Some of these include the events of Air Transat, Biotherm, and Ferrari. This tells us about her credibility and professionalism.
The fact that she’s also an event producer gives her an edge when it comes to the flow and planning.
She understands timelines and transitions. Clients she worked with praised her for being easy to work with. She’s also very proactive in making sure the flow runs smoothly.
Moreover, we love that she exerts effort in dressing herself to match the event. Not all DJs got this respect for the occasion and the client’s vision. For us, it’s one of her greatest strengths.
Her bubbly personality is another bonus. A client shared that DJ Pri played from 4 PM to 3 AM while maintaining her energy throughout.
