Pacific Midwifery Practice has provided midwifery services in Vancouver since 1997. We were immediately impressed by their combined experience of over 50 years!
Despite having only a small team of midwives, we liked that they provided complete primary care to their patients and their babies. This means they’ill assist you through your pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.
We were impressed by their facilities, which include a bright and spacious clinic with floor-to-ceiling windows. This, in our opinion, allows clients to feel at ease when visiting their clinic.
Furthermore, they have numerous photos of the mothers they’ve helped over the years on display. We think this is a nice touch so customers can get a sense of what it’s like to work with them.
It’s also worth mentioning that their services are covered by the British Columbia Medical Services Plan (BC MSP). So if you’re registered, you must show your BC care card.
Another thing that caught our attention is how personable their services are. They provide a custom birthing plan for their patients since every birth experience is different.
Unfortunately, their clinic is closed on weekends, limiting their availability. We also wish they had more midwives to accommodate more consumers simultaneously.
Even so, we thought Pacific Midwifery Practice deserved a spot on our list, for they provide personalized primary care services.

Strathcona Midwifery Collective is a group of registered midwives who offer pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support for up to 6 weeks.This midwifery center has over 8 midwives with extensive experience in the field.
We liked how they provide complete postpartum and newborn care, as this package includes home visits in the first week and numerous follow-up clinic visits to monitor your and your baby’s health.
But perhaps what we liked the most is that they provide access to a midwife on call 24/7. In our opinion, this eases the mind of clients, knowing that help is available at any time.
Aside from that, the Strathcona Midwifery Collective offers lactation support, which includes assisting you with your feeding journey.
We thought this was an excellent addition to their services, as it eliminates the need for mothers to seek breastfeeding assistance from other clinics.
Moreover, if you’re an expecting mother, this organization offers online prenatal infant feeding classes to prepare your body for breastfeeding, positioning techniques, and many other things.
Now, we would like to mention that they have relatively higher rates. However, we particularly liked that their rates are all-inclusive, so clients won’t have to worry about any hidden charges.
All in all, we highly recommend Strathcona Midwifery Collective for all mothers out there, as they’re one of the best midwifery centers in Vancouver.

We liked that their appointments last almost 45 minutes as we think this gives clients enough time to ask questions and get advice.
Their registered midwives provide personalized, evidence-based care, which sets them apart. This means they employ effective practices that give patients peace of mind.
In addition, we like that the midwives at Westside believe in providing individualized care to each woman they see. Each birth plan is crafted to meet the specific needs and preferences of each patient.
Another thing that drew our attention was that they have an in-house pelvic floor physiotherapist. You can get assistance in recovering your pelvic floor muscles, which can be impacted by childbirth, surgery, heavy lifting, and other factors.
Now, we were a bit dismayed that they don’t have 24/7 emergency services as we think this would’ve been a great addition to their services. Nevertheless, we appreciate the fact that they respond immediately to inquiries.
Moreover, many of the customers we’ve spoken to comment on how supportive their midwives were as they were able to make them feel comfortable during stressful and rough times.

Established in 1988, the Midwifery Group offers a wide range of services, from prenatal care to postpartum support. This clinic employs team-based midwifery care, where they work in teams of four or five to assist you in your birthing journey.
We were impressed about the coverage of their prenatal care, as this package includes plenty of tests. This includes ultrasounds, blood work, urine tests, and many others to ensure your and your baby’s general well-being.
They also offer prenatal classes for an additional fee, which we believe is reasonable. These classes prepare you for labor, birth, breastfeeding, and caring for a newborn.
We also appreciate how informative their lending library is and how many resources they have in their waiting room about prenatal, birth, and breastfeeding. They also have a large selection of books and toys for young children.
Most customers we’ve spoken with have praised their services because their midwives are patient and kind, making the entire process easier.

What we liked best about them is that they also provide care for those who don’t have health insurance and those who need midwifery care later in pregnancy. This, in our opinion, enables them to serve a large customer base.
They also provide weekend and weekly evening prenatal classes with an experienced maternity nurse and a certified Hypnobabies instructor.
Despite being relatively new to the maternity care field, we believe that Bloom Community Midwives is one of the best midwifery centers in Vancouver.
