Jason Cowan, CEO of Fibrestream, established the company in 2009 and has since provided internet service to 102,520 clients in the Greater Vancouver area.

We found it impressive that they have their own private fiber optic network because we think it allows for faster connections compared to traditional cable or DSL options.

We liked that they have maintained their rates since their opening, and we think you would too. It’s also quite outstanding how all their packages come with unlimited internet browsing for $39.99 monthly.

We also found it very flexible that they don’t oblige their clients to sign contracts for a specific duration, which means you can cancel at any time with no notice required.

Perhaps their only downside is that they’re only able to service selected condominiums and apartments. But, we did like that their services are compatible with all standalone routers, so you won’t have to buy any additional equipment.

In addition, most of the clients we’ve spoken to were satisfied with how they were able to use their own routers and didn’t experience any connectivity issues.

If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to connect to the internet, we highly recommend Fibrestream. Their services are reliable, flexible, and you can cancel at any time.

Pros

  • Relatively affordable rates
  • No contracts
  • Compatible with all standalone routers

Cons

  • Only installs in select condominiums and apartments

Client Reviews

Great price, great service

“This was a great price and terrific service. I’ve attended a ton of zoom calls and never really had lagging or glitches in my connection.”

-Viraj M.

Affordable and great customer service

“Fibrestream has been the best internet provider. I have been a customer of Bell, Rogers, and Teksavvy. But none of them come close to the affordability, value, and customer service from Fibrestream.”

Just along Cambie Street, you’ll find TELUS & Koodo. They provide a wide range of home and business internet services in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, the Fraser Valley, Langley, Chilliwack, and other surrounding cities.

What really struck us with this company is that they have a rural smart hub, which is perfect for those living in more remote areas. We also liked that they offer customizable internet plans to cater to different needs and budgets.

Another thing we liked is that customers are able to control their network via the ‘My Wifi” app, with features like family profiles, monitoring usage, and pausing wifi.

Other than that, TELUS & Koodo also run a 100% fiber optic connection, which is impressive as they’re able to deliver up to 940 Mbps of internet speed.

It’s also worth noting that they’ve been named the fastest major internet provider in Canada by PCMag for two years in a row, which only strengthened the positive impression they left on us.

However, we’re just a bit bummed that clients are required to sign a two-year contract in order to access their services.

Nevertheless, we’re quite pleased with TELUS & Koodo internet services, and we think they’re one of the best internet providers in Vancouver.

Pros

  • Dedicated internet services for rural areas
  • 100% fiber optic connection

Cons

  • Two-year fixed term required

Client Reviews

Very customer-focused

“Very customer, focussed interested in understanding what the needs were and the practical solutions.”

-Hamed U.

Knowledgeable and efficient staff

“Alex was knowledgeable, efficient, and helped answer any questions I had. Plus he had a great sense of humor.”

Headquartered in Ontario, VMedia offers internet services in Vancouver and other cities in British Columbia. Along with their internet plans, the company also offers TV, home phone, and home security plans.

From what we’ve seen, we’re pleased with how expansive their internet packages are, as they have plans for every type of user, from casual users to heavy gamers and streamers.

They also offer both DSL and Cable connections to suit different customer preferences and needs, with plans ranging from 15 Mbps to 250 Mbps.

We also liked that the tech install and modem are included in their packages, and customers will get a $50 credit with their TV plans should they decide to bundle their internet and TV services together.

It’s also worth mentioning that VMedia’s internet service reaches more than 90% of Canadian homes, and they can install their products in as little as three days from the time you sign up, which we found to be incredibly swift.

As for customer support, we were a bit disappointed that they don’t provide 24/7 support. VMedia does, however, provide live chat and email support during business hours, which we think is still convenient for most customers.

All in all, we believe that VMedia is one of the best internet providers in Vancouver, as they provide a variety of internet packages.

Pros

  • Wide variety of internet packages
  • Fast installation

Cons

  • No 24/7 customer support line

Client Reviews

Fast service with no issues

“Called for some basic highspeed and was connected within 3 business days and did not have to wait at home for an installer. Received modem the following day by purolator. Service is consistently fast without any issues.”

-Andrew S.

Stable speed

“Nothing to complain about my internet access works perfectly and my speed is always stable”

Another option worth considering is Oxio, a Vancouver-based internet service provider that allows customers to subscribe to their services without leaving their homes.

We thought their “all-online” approach was unique and convenient, as it allows customers to sign up for internet services without having to schedule appointments or deal with in-person paperwork.

We know what you’re thinking: ‘What if I need a technician? “Well, if you already have a coaxial cable in your home, oxio can activate your internet remotely. However, if you have another type of connection, a tech visit may be required.

We also appreciate how transparent they are with their prices, which range from $40 to $90 a month. Oxio also doesn’t require clients to commit to long-term contracts, so you’re able to cancel your service at any time without penalty.

They also offer “eero Plus” for $8 a month, which gives you access to four security apps to protect your home network and devices, which we found very useful to keep you safe from online threats.

Overall, we’re happy with what we’ve seen from Oxio. You get a good and stable internet connection as well as the convenience of doing everything online.

Pros

  • Whole process can be done online
  • Transparent pricing
  • No long-term contracts

Cons

  • Relatively longer install times

Client Reviews

Easy to register and install

“I like OXIO, very easy to register online and install the modem on your own.”

-Chen W.

Affordable internet service

“I’m satisfied with the affordable internet service, which offers similar speed and availability as major providers. While customer support and self-installation may be limited, I haven’t experienced any problems.”

-Kosir

Novus Entertainment Inc. has been providing internet services in downtown Vancouver’s high-rise buildings since 1996. Since then, the company’s network has grown to include Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, North Vancouver, and many more.

We immediately found it impressive that all their internet plans come with unlimited data and symmetrical speeds. This means that if you subscribe to their 100 Mbps plan, you will get 100 Mbps for both downloading and uploading data.

Novus offers four internet plans with varying speeds: 100, 500, 1000, and 2500 Mbps, which range from $45 to $165 per month. We liked that all these plans include free installation, set-up, and connection.

Other than that, all their plans also include domain hosting, where you can create and manage your own website, which we thought was useful for small businesses or individuals looking to establish an online presence.

We also appreciate that Novus has customer support available via live chat and phone seven days a week, because we think this gives clients peace of mind knowing that help is readily available when needed.

If you’re looking for an established internet provider in Vancouver, Novus Entertainment Inc. is definitely one of your top choices.

Pros

  • 26 years in business
  • Free installation, set-up, and connection
  • Plans include domain hosting

Cons

  • Some complaints about internet stability

-Sharath J.
